First and foremost, we are trying very hard to make an appointment at the vet... but considering tomorrow is not only Sunday, but this is Memorial weekend, it's proving to be difficult. We can't particularly afford to go to an Emergency care clinic at the moment, so there's a chance we won't have an opportunity to get him checked out for several days. But we are trying.

Now onto the issues.

Our newest baby is roughly 8-9 weeks old, and has (allegedly) gotten his first set of shots and a deworming. I'm waiting on an email back from the woman we adopted him from to get records of his medical history, but we'll see how that plays out. We got him on Monday night, I believe. He's generally been very playful, very affectionate, he was eating semi-normally (we had changed his diet, so I wasn't too concerned that he didn't dig in right away, until nowish). He seems to still be getting used to drinking water from a bowl, he gets his nose wet a lot. He does drink a little at a time, though. He uses the litter box regularly, stools appear to be solid and normal. He likes to fuss and cry when he has to go #2, so we're always aware of when he's going.

A few days ago, he threw up bile. I didn't think too much of it, I've owned many cats before and I know that dietary changes, the stress of new surroundings, the stress of new pets, etc etc can cause a cat to throw up a couple of times. But now it's a daily thing, he throws up two or three times in a row. It's mostly bile or white, foamy liquids. This morning he threw up, after a while we gave him some boiled chicken. He ate that no problem, kept it down all day. I didn't want to upset his stomache so we held off on feeding him again for a while. When we did try to feed him tonight, he didn't seem interested. He drank a little bit of water, but shortly after he threw up again. He's since been a bit lethargic, he's sleeping in my lap right now. He seems to want to play, but can't really muster the energy to do so.

Could this still simply be from the diet changes? Could it still just be related to him being new in the home, adjusting to different everything? I really just want some peace of mind before I go to sleep, I'm getting very worried. Let me know if anyone needs any further information.

This doesnt sound good. it may be so you have a severe crisis oncoming...   A clear asap vet errand.  But I have read, you dont have any vet attainable at this moment...

When they have throwing fits as soon they have eaten or drank, the trick is, to give them with a dropper or needleless syringe, just a few drops, but often.  So the stomach never registers they got anything.  Tummy down, head up, in the corner of the mouth, cautiously so you are sure he swallows properly.

Some sort of pedialyte is appropriate, bought or home made.

I will retun in a while re proposal for a pedialyte.

Can you get goat milk?  Raw goat milk is best, but bottled full fat is OK too.   Its mild nourishment.

ps.  Them throwing twice or thrice in a row is common.  For example, mine residents almost always throw twice in a row.

A  home made pedialyte receipt:

"There are several recepts, my favorite at this moment

is, as the source of several different salts, you use simply a good minerale water.

You blend in it some glucose=dextrose sugar.  Say 2 tea spoons in a 250 ml cup.   If you dont have access to glucose sugar proper, you can use white caro syrup, honey, or even som other sugar syrup alike melass...

You warm it up to body temp and stir if necessary  - the gas will go out during this process...

And you use it."

If you dont have mineral water at hand, a quickie will be just to use common kitche salt.

1 tea spoon of kitchen salt

1,5  soup spoons of sugar source as above - where glucose sugar = dextrose is the best of them.   Even common white sugar will work but its the last alternative.

1 liter of water.

a trifle of baking soda if you have, but not entirely necessary.

Warm up into boiling, stir if necessary.

Use at body temp.

Hi the kitten has one of two things . Wet food is a must for the baby . Try royal Cain baby cat. And I'd from your vet should calm the tummy . Check the kitten for worms , usually in a kitten that is the reason for this . Tapeworms or round worms. . Get the kitten to a vet asap for fecal

I won't say go to the vet as soon as possible. You know that already. In the mean time if kitty has an appetite you can try adding plain boiled white rice, cottage cheese and plain full-fat yogurt to the boiled chicken. Pedialyte is good too, as is goat milk like Stefanz recommended. Feed only small amounts at a time.

If kitty stops wanting to eat and drink you may have to consider finding a way to afford the emergency clinic. See if they accept Care Credit and if they do you can apply for it online at CareCredit.com. It's a medical credit card you can use at vets and some human doctors/dentists etc and with any purchase over $200 they give you 6 months to pay with deferred interest. It's a pretty neat thing to have and I have it for my cats. It comes in handy for unexpected emergency vet bills.

I hope your kitty gets better soon! Keep us updated!

Quick update, we syringe fed him a little bit of a cat milk alternative that I had bought him a few days ago (which I had used to bottlefeed my previous two babies) as well as a little water. So far he's kept it down. He seemed a little bit livelier before I left for work, playing with his tail and crying when I closed the door. My boyfriend is monitoring him until I get back from work. I'll update again tonight.

Good to hear he was a bit more active. Please let us know more later. I hope you get the info on the shots that will help to let you know what you are looking at. I will try and get ahold of my vet/close friend and see if she has any input or idea of what may be going on. If I do I will let you know ASAP. Eager for an update on the little baby.

Second quick update. I'd edit my first post with these but I can't figure out how on my phone.
Baby has an appointment at 1:30pm today by some miracle (who the hell is open Sunday on a holiday weekend).

Boyfriend coaxed him into eating a little boiled chicken, he ate it like he was starving (probably was by now). Has kept it down as far as I know.

I really appreciate all your help and kind words. It's really reassuring to truly hear tips and suggestions instead of just "get off the internet and take him to the vet". Will update again after vet visit.

It sounds as though he was already a bit better, showing appetite and keeping his last couple of meals down! Hope it goes well at the vet!

Vet is worried about parvo and/or leukemia, going to run tests on him now I guess. She said he feels very gassy and was surprised that he didn't have diarrhea (also said he probably will have it soon).

Okay everyone. Good news! Samson was tested for FeLV/FIV/FHW (leukemia, aids, and heartworms) and Parvo, and all came back negative!! Poor sweetie was crying so loud when he was getting all those needles poked and prodded. He got some nausea shots and such before we left. The vet said that if there's no improvement or it gets worse, he'll probably have to have some legit labwork done.

Vet sent home some dewormer and some antibiotics, both of which he just took, along with some chicken and rice. So far, he still never threw up at all today, so here's hoping he keeps that all down. Looks like he's got diaherrea now, which the vet expected based on the amount of gas he had built up in his intestines, but that I can handle. He's still a bit tired from all the excitement, but he was active a little while ago, trying to get at my potato salad and climbing on the cat tree. I did get some Pedialyte as well, in the event I'll need it. Right now he's keeping everything down. I also did end up going with the CareCredit route, so it didn't entirely break my already broken bank.

I'll report back if there's any other issues that pop up, or if his issues worsen (along with another visit to the vet, of course). Thanks everyone again for the help and kind words!

So glad he is better. Just be aware the antibiotics can also cause diarrhea, so when he has it, give him some pedialyte. He's a lucky fellow to have you as his mom! :)

Samson is back to eating like it's going out of style, drinking regularly, and chasing our dog around. No vomiting since Saturday. I think it's safe to say he's feeling much better!

Here's a picture of him today :)
