So I am a very proud owner of an 11 month old Domestic Shorthair Tabby kitten named Willamina Grace, aka Willow.

She's my first cat and kitten ever, and because of that I also worry about a ton of things! She was and is very well socialized, as she went everywhere with me as a baby. She is harness trained, and knows the commands Come, Sit, and Sit Pretty. She's a very smart kitty!

This leads me to another question/concern,

She grew up around other cats, and while I have two dogs, I feel it is just not the same as having another cat. When I went away on vacation for three days, I couldn't bring her, and she didn't eat for those three days. She acted extremely lethargic and she lost several ounces of weight (my kitten is tiny, and only weighs 6.2 pounds!)

Now she's very clingy to me, which is fine, except I go to school, and work, and am currently trying to get into college.

I'm worried she will get sick from being lonely...would a friend help her?

From what you say, another cat could well be a good idea (that is, if you truly have the space and resources for two, and if you have time to follow the introduction process).

When you do have to go away there are other things that may help Willow too. Leave her an item of (unwashed) clothing that you've either slept in or got sweaty in. That way she has something with your scent to snuggle up to. Feliway diffusers are often helpful too, as are things like Composure treats or liquid, or flower essences such as Jackson Galaxy's spirit essences range.

If you do go for a second cat, try to pick one that seems like a good match for Willow (similar age, energy level etc). There are plenty of rescues who'll be more than happy to help you find the right fit for your fur family. It's great that you're looking to do the best you can by Willow - I'm sure she appreciates it.
