Or, is it just a scam?

www.animaledu.com/programs/felinetrainingbehavior.aspx

I have mentioned before in another thread that I am having a career crisis. I don't want to be a teacher anymore, but I have this education degree and nothing else to do with it. I would really like to be able to make a decent living just working with cats. The program above looks like it should be fairly short to complete and can be done online. It is rather expensive though, and I am not sure what it would do for me. Realistically, I don't know what my chances would be of landing a steady, well paying job with this training. Any thoughts?

What kind of job are you hoping to do? I think if there is a job opportunity in your area and you think this program will give you a better chance at it, it might be worth it.

If your hoping to do something such as becoming a cat behaviourist or a professional cat sitter practical experience might be more useful. You could get plenty of that by volunteering at your local shelter.

Really I think it depends on what kind of job you want to do, do you have any specific career in mind?

It certainly looks like an interesting course that would provide a lot of good knowledge but I'm not sure how well that would translate into a sustainable career. Perhaps you could work independently as a cat trainer like the course description suggests, but other than that I'm not too sure. I'd check with your local rescue groups, shelters and vet hospitals and see if any of them employ a cat behaviorist. Definitely do some research on the potential job market before purchasing such an expensive course and if you can find some places that might hire you after graduation then go for it! It really does sound cool but I'd hate for you to spend all that time/money and then not be able to do anything with your degree.
