Hello everyone, I got a kitten there about 3 weeks ago, she was supposedly 7 weeks old when I got her and the people that gave me her said she was very and quiet and was on kitten foods, I asked them what foods it was so I didn't have to change her diet and she told me whiskas, when I got the kitten home she wouldn't eat and I assumed it was down to her being in a new environment, now 3 weeks later she still isn't eating any form of kitten food dry or wet and I've tried several different brands, HOWEVER I was told to try her on human baby foods - with a dairy base. So she has ate cow and gate rice pudding and will also drink kitten milk- but the milk is only supposed to make up 10% of her diet!! I'm stuck for what to do I want her to eat:( tried everything, I think a trip to the vet is in order!

Are you giving her KMR - kitten milk replacement formula, or Whiskas cat milk? She needs the KMR by Petag. It's specially made for kittens with all the vitamins and minerals she needs. The Whiskas is treat milk for adult cats. KMR is sold at Walmart, pet stores, and vet offices.

Also try giving her Gerber turkey baby food from the jar. Full of iron and easy to lap. Put some on your finger and even smear a little on her mouth to get her interested.

Also, wet her kitten chow with formula so it's soft and easy to eat. Kittens usually like this too.

Does she play much? Does she have a stuffed toy to cuddle with? Is she grooming herself at all? Using the litter box?

You may have gotten a runt who needs extra loving care. You may need to use a dropper to give her formula and pedialyte (clear) to perk her up. It's tummy down, head up, and a couple of drops in the side if her mouth at a time. Let her swallow and breathe, then give more.

Let us know how it goes! :)

Seconding   SArthurs excellent advices, want to add some.

Instead of a dropper, a needleless syringe is easier - and takes more.  But use a dropper to have soemthing to begin with!

Goat milk is always a good alternative. Take a full fat version.  Raw goat milk even better, if you can get it.

Royal canins  kmr is good too, roughly as good as the PetAgs  KMR in powder mentioned by Sarthur.

Royal canins dry food for baby and mother is excellent  (I dont remember the exact name, you will recognize if you see it).

Minced meat is a classical. (NOT from pigs)   If  salomonella in eggs is no problem at your place, raw egg yolk is good. You can mix it with some other fluid food, or that minced meat. But boiled egg white.

Cheese, is OK too.

As you see, almost all these foods do have animal as a base.   Proteins and  fat, no low fat products.

Nutrical, or some other nice vitamine paste, is useful too...

I presume she DID ate someting, as she is still alive now 3 weeks later, but I suspect strongly she is literally starving like in famine...   So her reserves are thin, very thin.   And if she begins to eat more properly, you must increase in small steps - small portions but often.
