I already put a post about this but now I can make a bit of an update.
So about 2 weeks ago I noticed my cat, Mitu, was limping of the right, back leg. He wasn't limping all the time tho, he was only limping when he was putting pressure on it, like after finishing peeing or pooping. I checked him everywhere and no pain, at least he didn't show any.
Now, last saturday we went to the vet. The vet checked his leg and gave us two outcomes.
1. Muscle related
2. Join related, but he has to do an x-ray for that. So he sent us home with some pain and inflammation medication and said to watch him for 2-3 weeks. He also said no play, run, jump.
Until today he seemed to get better, I didn't see him limping or anything but because he didn't play this week, he has a lot of energy, specially at night:(
Now today, he made a big jump, he also runed abit thru the house like crazy, but after all that burst of energy he limped again:(
Now, I don't know what to say...how long does it take for a muscle injury to get better?
Can it be joint related? What could have coused that?
I still have 2 pills to give him, but of he doesn't get better I need to go back and I am really scared about that. Specially because he gets so stressed out when he sees strangers.
Did someone go thru this before? I don't know what to think and Im all alone, you guys are the only people I can talk to about this.

I don't know about joint related injuries, but I do have a bit of experience with muscular injuries. My lab pulled muscles in her shoulder ages ago. Like you, we had meds and were told to limit activity to let it heal. As soon as Leah was allowed to run free again she went mad with excitement and set it off again. We've never been able to get on top of it, and she now limps whenever she does too much. It's a vicious cycle. On the other hand, it doesn't seem to bother her very much. We will be getting her checked again soon, but it may just be something she has to live with.

I think all you can do for your boy is wait and see. Muscular injuries can take ages to heal properly. Try not to stress too much. Mitu clearly isn't too worried if he's running and jumping like that ;)

The problem I have with giving pain meds to animals in these kinds of circumstances is that they can actually work against you. For an animal, mild pain serves as a reminder that they have to take it easy. If we make the pain go away they feel fine, and want to run, leap and jump as they usually would. It's a pity we can't explain to them that they need to rest even though they're not hurting. (I'm not saying I don't use pain meds for my guys - just that they make our lives as carers that bit harder).

It sounds like Mitu probably will need to go back to the vet. You do need to know the root cause of the pain, especially if it may be a long term issue. On the other hand, I really wouldn't be overly worried about it. As I said, he can't be feeling that bad if he's able to go leaping about the house.

Maybe get some Composure treats or liquid to give him before he goes to the vet again. That ought to take the edge off for him, and leave him feeling calmer about the whole experience.

Get well soon Mitu :vibes:

Thank you:) I will keep an eye on him this days and make a vet appointment for next week. It's going to be hard, but he needs x-ray. Im trying my best to keep him from running, he isn't a very active cat, but sometimes he does have bursts of energy and thats what happened yesterday. But again, thank you so much for the reply:)
