Poop on small rug

Well for the 1st time she pooped outside litter box,on the small rug i have on the front door was her desired spot,any ideas on this? same litter box,same litter. She has diabetus but is regulated. This never happened in the 8 years ive had her.

I just found anothre pile on teh couch,what the heck is going on? I just cleaned her litterbox with soap and water,hope that does the trick?? any ideas?

I'm just seeing this post.  Have you taken her to the vet?  If it's a new behavior she may be sick.

She seems fine,not in pain,normal in every way except for her pooping,now last night she did use litter box,so im hoping she used it again today! She always pees in box,never and issue there

Sometimes cats won't poo where they wee... Usually they do it from the start, but I've known an older cat to just 'decide' that's the way it will be.  It's worth a try if you only have the one box.

Cats are very good at hiding pain; so a vet check isn't a bad idea.  Especially if this continues!  I agree with Mani; add another litter box to see if that helps.  Also be sure to use a good enzyme based cleaner where any accidents occur so she doesn't smell it and go back to the spot based on that.  

Has her food changed at all?  Was it "healthy' looking?  Or at least normal for her?

Yes it looked fine,i moved the litter box and she went right in and did her business,i put it back so she pees in it,if she does it avain im going.to get another litter box

She was doing good but she did it again on roomates couch blanket,i switched blankets hopi.g that may help,if happens agIn going.to get another litter box for a total of two,hope this helps yuck

Its been a couple months now and I bought an additional litter box and all is well,she pees in one box and does the other in the other box lol!!!!!!
