Good morning!
And Happy Friday! And a long weekend coming up for me....we have off for the Memorial Day holiday.

I'm sorry. I did remember about the QoTD when I first got to work this morning and then, just that quickly, it was gone.

So.....do you like to color? Using Crayola Crayons in a coloring book? How about using markers or colored pencils? Do you doodle?

I'm considering buying a large box of Crayola Crayons and some adult coloring books and spending an afternoon coloring. I think it might be relaxing to do something creative. Maybe some doodling. I work with graphics on the computer, but think it would be nice to have some crayons. I color with my grandchildren quite often, but I think I would like to have my own crayons.
There's something about a brand new box of crayons with their beautiful colors and all the points so sharp. I did ask Dear Richard for a box of crayons as a stocking gift last year for Christmas, but he thought I was kidding. (I wasn't.)

What about you? Would you use a box of crayons and some coloring books? Or is it too childish, in your opinion?

I doodle and I think I would probably like to color.  I just hadn't thought about it.  When I was in the Army many many years ago I heard that the Air Force told their Air Traffic Controller students they should spend time coloring every day.  They believed that it was a mindless activity that would help relieve stress.

Yep.  I have a couple of coloring books, along with crayons, markers and colored pencils.  I don't sit down to color often but sometimes it's a very relaxing thing to do.

I love to.  It's soothing!  I never realized they make coloring books for adults until one of our members gave one as a gift for our Secret Santa exchange a few years ago.  I eventually ordered a few for myself and some new colored pencils.  They are too intricate for crayons.  I think crayons are more soothing because they remind me of my childhood;but the more intricate books are fun to just lose yourself in the details.

I doodled a lot in my school days.

In college I had a Perspective Drawing and Rendering class.  I loved the rendering part!  Perspective drawing took some work to learn.  (Of course our instructor could just walk up to the board and whip one up in his mind; but we were working off floor plans.  Not our imagination!)  The rendering part was definitely enjoyable!  I still have some of the expensive markers I used back then; but I'm not sure if they still work.

(Play-doh is also good for that nostalgic smell.

You know Pam, I really never thought about it but it might just be fun.  I have never been creative in any way but I remember loving to color with crayons when I was a kid.  The thing is that I use most of my relaxing time reading, I just love to read.  It takes me to different places and introduces all kinds of people, I just love to read.

No, tho coloring does not seem at all childish and I would do it if I was in the mood for it, if I could just put the books down

I don't know that I'd use colouring books, but I used to fill notebooks with abstract colour patterns - usually no more than 2 colours and an outline in each. I can't draw to save my life, but that was really soothing. I always used felt tip pens though (preferably with a brush type nib) - they give a much more even colour, and in fewer strokes.

I sometimes attempt to sketch out jewellery designs, but my drawing really isn't good enough. I almost always end up designing on the board, or just stringing beads on and off until I hit on a design I'm happy with.

I'm with you on this one but I think the colouring might irritate me. Give me my books. .

I ddn't know they had adult coloring books either.  Of course I had to google it and I found this at Barnes and Noble http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/cre...-marjorie-sarnat/1120836553?ean=9780486789644

It's only six dollars but I can tell just by the cover that it would require the colored pencils rather than crayons.
Ooohhh, I love the cat coloring book!

I have a Day of the Dead one:    and the designs are too intricate for crayons but the sharp-tipped colored markers work well.

I have been colouring a picture that was printed off a website recently. I asked my husband to print a few pages for me so I don't have to keep colouring in my daughter's books when we colour.

The books I have are all from Dover publishers. I have Garden Party, The Victorian House, and Botanical Gardens.

They have SO many out to match your interests.  My BFF has always been fashion-minded.  She is a seamstress and designs custom clothing.  I found a book on the fashion of the Roaring Twenties; one of her favorite periods.  I HAD to get it for her birthday!  I told her I didn't care if she let her 10 year old color in it; I just couldn't pass it up!  Her DD has her artistic eye; I'm betting they enjoyed that coloring book together!

I draw and doodle a lot but I never thought about getting a colouring book. It would be fun, I think, but I'd rather have felt tip pens than crayons. I used to have crayons when I taught a lot of kids classes but I melted them all down when I was making candles a while back.

I used to love doing pencil art. I could do the shading just right. I've also done some acrylic painting as well. More interested in the pencil though. I really should get into colored pencil drawings and work on that

as I've seen some amazing art work of animals and flowers. Need to work on that skill set. Too busy fixing up the back yard and planting. It only just got warm enough to plant anything. If I could afford it, I'd

love to take some art classes. Back in the 80's I took some life drawing courses. I found it absolutely fabulous as it was just like meditation. I was going through a really tough time in my life and it made me

forget about my problems entirely, at least for an hour and a half.

I have always been amazed when I watch people who are both very talented and trained do drawings.  They are so fast and you can't even make out what they are drawing until they are almost finished.  I have been told that anyone can be taught how to draw, not well enough to do it professionally that also requires talent, but I have never taken a class.
