. I found out our beautiful Ski is a lynx point Siamese. But would like to found out why she likes my 4 dogs but not my 2 cats. She will lay in a door way of the room where the cats are and not let the cats past her. They are all females cats.

Hi @jessi1985 . Your Ski is very beautiful.

It could be that Ski is just an alpha cat, and likes to be the one in charge of things.  A member here, did tell me that me that some cats do prefer the company of dogs over cats. I did find that interesting.

Maybe Ski feels there is no competition with dogs, and with the cats she may feel a little.

Are they all different ages of cats? How long have the cats been together? And do the dogs play with Ski?  What type of dogs?

when you are at work....

the boss brought a new employee with same job as you...

he will be a challenge to keep number 1

when you are at work....

the boss brought a new employee with another job...

he will not be any challenge to you and he will be soon your friend

....

cats don't like other cats in their spot when they are adult....

your cat afraid to challenge other cats....

the dogs out of that challenge like human so cat's doesn't fight human for a spot

and play with them like they play with humans

Thank u all for our info. We haven't had ski very long maybe little over a week. Are 1 cat is 7 yrs old and the other is 2 yrs. I think ski is about 2 too. We don't lock the cats up we just like them run the house. The dogs r German Shepherd, yorkie. Wired hair terrier and the other is a mutt about 45 pds.

Ah, yes, not having Ski for very long, may be your answer, then.  Ski just needs more time to adjust to her new place.  Some times it takes weeks to months for cats to warm up to each other.

(One of the cats I took care of, took a whole week to come out from under the bed, and she, Gillian, then became the cat that liked to boss everyone around.  She was like your Ski, and laid in the doorway to block the other cats or dog from leaving or entering.  We jokingly called her 'the Bouncer", since you needed some special VIP pass to get into her club.  The other cats soon realized that they could just jump over her, and the dog eventually would just whine or bark, to get her, or us to move her.)

Your fur crew sounds amazing.  All are so different.  I imagined the dogs to be all similar height, but your dog crew has a height mix of everything. Really sweet.

here are some Articles from TCS that might help in understanding how cats behave:

Miagi likes our dogs.. he grew up with my hound and they were the best of friends. I think he much prefers us and our dogs because I find him asleep with our dog Dixie every night. He isn't mean to my cat Angel.. but definitely not a fan of her. She's too young for him or something. But he isn't mean to her. He just doesn't prefer to play with her lol. Tiger liked dogs a lot.. but when Angel came along he adored her. They were best pals. But I don't think that he preferred the company of dogs over Angel. But he totally loved my brother's dog Archer, even when he was a naughty pup. He loved our dog Ginger as well. He was just a total love bug.

Cats know that where dogs are concerned, they are at the bottom of the pile. That cat is always alpha. You may have a house with six dogs and one cat. The cat is alpha. The dogs know this so she's comfortable with them. Your kittiessare still an unknown quantity. It'll work itself out but whoever becomes alpha, all the cats are above the dogs. I don't know why. It just is.

That is hilarious!  The smallest pushes the German Shepherd around?  Little dogs are tough, fast, and fearless, so I would believe it.  They have 'big dog personalities'.
