I just adopted a five year old kitty.  She is very sweet and loves her pets, play and brushing but during the day she just stays under the bed.  Around 5pm when I am in the living room she will come out and visit, eat dinner, look out the front door, etc.  She has only been in her new home for four days.  While I understand it may take her some time, I can not figure out why she is under the bed during the day.  I work from home and my office is right next to the bedroom.  Seems like any noise outside scares her but at the shelter she loved being on the outside screened in porch and bask in the sun.  I also have a screened in porch but she has no plans to venture out. Wondering why the day she just sleeps under the bed.   Any suggestions?  New mommy wants a happy kitty.  Thanks!

It may be a combination of her settling in and her sleepy time.  My girls are definitely more active at night; when everything else is quieter.

Thank you... I am seeing some improvement in her!  We had a long play time last eve and I got some sleep!

She even came out this morning before I called for her to eat.  That was the first!
