There is a very recent and circular scab like wound on my 7 year old male's back. I will say its a prime spot for scratching. I really want to avoid taking him in, vets can be so expensive, especially when it can just be a little cut that needs healing time. Could we use neosporin on him? Is there a concern is is very serious? The smaller pic is his hair relaxed over the wound area. Please let me know what you think this is. Thank you!

Does he go outside? I wonder if it could be ringworm. Odd place for a scratch. Does he have fleas?

He is strictly indoor and he has no fleas. Sometimes we have a window cracked, or a bug flies through the door now and then but he's really indoor only.

Hey I just thought of something. Do you put your cats flea med on the back of his neck in this area?

If you do use Neosporin (or other similar ointment), only use the regular one not the one that has pain reliever. Human pain relievers are toxic to cats when ingested.

If the spot doesn't improve within a week I suggest a trip to the vet. It may be a sign of something more serious or the vet can prescribe medicine to help the spot heal.

Umm, nope i don't think we bothered putting flea stuff on him because he's indoor.
