I have a cat who may have a UTI or other related bladder problem, at least I hope that's what it is. I'm going to try and get him into the vet by this weekend but as a college student who works on campus I'm unable to pay a lot of money to vet him. I'm a workstudy on campus which means I can't apply for something like Carecredit, etc. I'm wanting to try some home "remedies" if possible but I'm not sure what works, where to look, etc.

Thanks.

Try a low cost vet clinic. I used one years ago and it was $30 for a visit. Banfield, the vet clinic at some PetSmart stores, has a free first appointment. Try these other suggestions: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/155462/cant-afford-a-vet-please-read Some vet hospitals offer financial aid in other forms besides CareCredit. These may be payment plans or part of the bill may be funded through a pet care assistance fund.

I wouldn't try to guess what your cat's health issue might be. Urinary issues are common but could also indicate something more than a UTI, such as diabetes or kidney problems. A vet can do blood work and other tests to dignose the exact problem.

Well, I can't say much for Banfield as I find their care is not as good as other Vets. You do need to get him to a Vet soon, as this could get nasty if it goes unchecked for too long. I do need to ask, what makes you think it is a UTI and not something else? He is passing urine right? If not, he cannot wait. Even hours can make a difference between life or death. Also feeding canned food with extra added water may help in the mean time as long as he can pass urine.
