Outlr adopted stray just had kittens! We were told she was a boy but obvs not! She is semi-feral/stray and is an outdoor cat. She has had them in the garage behind the in between the washing machine and the wall. We seen her last night fat as ever(we thought she needed worming so I bought worming tablets today) and this morning she never came for brekkie. I got home at 5 this evening and heard something moving behind the washing machine and there she was! There is 3, but one is unfortunately dead for some reason. The other two have big bellies and are sleeping.
What's worrying me is that she has been away from the nest for nearly forty five minutes!! I was told 10 minutes max!
I have left food and water in the garage, is there anything else I can do to help? How long can she leav them at the max? Any advice really appreciated

Cats living alone may leave their kittens surprising long time sometimes.  Of course, this doenst mean everything is all right, its one of the causes the death ratio is quite hight.

So you can hope for the best, but there is no security nor safety no.

Is the place decently warm?   If not, you have perhaps possibility to leave there something warm to lie on...

Do you have any possibility to take them in everyone?   Or close the garage, so she cant get out?   And of course, make sure she has everything she needs in there...

If not, you do have two possibilites: be sure she got food water, etc, and hope she wont leave them too much.

Or take a deep breath, and take the kittens, taking full charge of them and raising them yourself...   If mom wants inside to them, you may admit or refuse, depending on your circumstances...

I hope my rant helped you something---  What you do depends on the exact situation, and how much you can and want to help out.

She has returned aand spent the night in there, we are going to take her and the kitties into a spare room in the house(she can use a liiter tray) once they are old enough to touch. When will that be? thanks for your help

Hmm. She may move her kittens at anytime, particularly when you go to use the washer and dryer. I would attempt to bring mom and babies in asap. Try putting the babies into a pet carrier on a towel, and wait for mom to go in to see about them, then close the door and bring them in. Or is she friendly and you can just get her by the scruff to bring her in? The sooner the better for lots of reasons. In the meantime, go ahead and set up a nest in the spare room, preferably in the back of a dark closet, so it's all ready for them.

Post an update when you can. Good luck!

Oh, that is no big problem.  Breeders and most rescuers do weigh them every day, beginning with immediately after the birth, so THIS is seldom touchy.  Esp if the mom altough semiferal, recognizes you as a friendly human...

Nay, the problem may be to get the mom and kittens inside.   And how complicated and touchy it is, depends on te exact situation.  If she is very shy and defensive, this may become tricky.  While in many cases, its essentially just to let them in...

Return with reports, so we will discuss and guide you.  Unless its very easy and natural for you.
