For those of you reading the Saga of Artie (sorry guys); I have an update.

Right now Artie is at the Vet Hospital, waiting for his biopsy. I am feeling somewhat nervous.

He was a good boy in the car. He did cry, but not very much.

He knew something was up, because he did not have any food last night or this morning.

The Regalan has been helping his tummy. While he not eating as much as he should, he is eating more at a time, and is still food fussy; he has an appetite, has not vomited, gagged or regurged in a week! I am also giving him some compounded Pepcid each day.

He does get a bit restless after his dose of Regalan..

He was so hungry last night. He ran around wanting to play at Midnight!!!! He was hunting everywhere for food. I heard one crash around midnight--jumping on counters. At 12:30 AM I heard another crash, bang. I ran out of bed, went into the kitchen. There he was ONTOP of my microwave!!!  How did he ever jump up there?

It is on a microwave cart, opposite the refrigerator and sink. He either jumped from the top of the refrigerator to the microwave, or jumped directly from the floor to the top of it...about 4 feet or more high!!!!!

He  looked at me, and meowed!!! I started saying," Bad Boy! Bad Boy! Get Down, DOWN"...while pointing downward. His ears went back, but he did not move. I had to pretend giving him a gentle prodding on his bum before he attempted to jump!!!

He is so defiant!!

I have tin foil everywhere! He even jumped on my new Bose Stereo!!!! more tin foil, but it does not work!

I am hoping that the biopsy goes well. I am trying to be postive by telling myself this: IF it was lymphoma, then the Regalan would not be easing his symptoms as well as it has....hopefully....although he looked awfully skinny this morning...

I ran into the IMVET on my way out of the hospital. She is very nice. We chatted for a bit. She said she is not surprised that the meds have helped him...

She said she will call me as soon as she can...

Fingers crossed....I plan on cleaning out his bathroom today...and his 2 litter boxes.... he is so spoiled....

Thanks for listening..

Hope the biopsy goes well. I have to say that I think his midnight escapades are a good sign

All fingers and paws (and even hooves) are crossed here for Artie (and you) :hugs: :vibes:

Artie is home!!!!!!!!!

I am so glad this little boy is home....hugging him so much,, he is so happy, STONED, but happy to be home....He keeps going into the kitchen---I have some NV Pork with water added, and some SOLID GOLD sardines with tuna, and water out for him........

IMVet called with preliminary results...

She said she could not get the scope all the way thru to the area which showed the abnormally thickened wall.

She did not understand why....The area that was in question is the pylorus...She was able to biopsy the duodenum (furthest area she could go).. Said the duodenum did not look suspicious for cancer to the eye, but it did look 'FRIABLE"-----meaning very easy to bleed. She took biopises (2) from that area.

All his GI blood work came back normal!!!!!!!!!  She said the results of the biopsy will be available Tuesday. She will contact me then...

She said that is when she will discuss: food, meds and follow-up appointments, if needed.

She said there could still be a malabsorption issue, but the biopsy will help with that.....

I am to give Artie his med tonight, (Regalan and Pepcid), to feed him 1/2 his normal meal, because he may be nauseous and vomiting due to the anesthesia...

My own anxiety disorder is coming into play, now.....the fact that the Vet could not get the scope thru the duodenum/to see the pylorus is worrisome to me....in my mind, it could mean that there is a mass or a stricture there which is narrowing the opening.....

or an ulcer or lymphoma of that area, which cannot be reached thru endoscopic biopsy...

I have decided that Artie will not have an open (surgical) biopsy if we do come to that....I am so overtired that I am so crazed....

enough of me...if I type more, I will get more crazed...

ARtie is in his "safe' area---his carrier, where I do not bother him..

Thank you everyone!

((hugs))

Cindy...

AT least he is home now and so the wait begins
If it's an ulcer causing the problem, that can be resolved with meds, so that's what we'll hope for I guess.

for good biopsy results, and that he doesn't get sick from the anesthesia when he gets that half a meal tonight.

Hang in there.

Artie is 'spacing' right now...in the kitchen, staring at the dish of pork and the dish of tuna. I gave him some dry--that seems to settle his stomach..he ate all I gave him.....

I just looked over and he is in the doorway to the kitchen, just staring into space...He wants to eat, but is too stoned to do so......poor baby...

He will be ok..just a matter of time...have to give him some meds soon.....sigh.......

I do not know where Artie is right now...he is not in his carrier, not in his quilt tent, not in bathroom, not on my bed....I think he may be in the kitchen, staring at his food-------poor baby...he will hopefully get over it and eat a bit tonight....

i love my little boy...ok,,,getting maudlin now.......LOL!

Great that he's home safe. I really hope the biopsy results are good. The waiting is so hard.

I'd expect him to be out of it overnight. They don't understand why they feel funny after an anesthetic. I hope he was able to eat his dinner and keep it down. I know how worrying things can be post anesthesia (my greyhound get colitis every time he goes under). It will pass. :hugs:

You're both in my thoughts. :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

Artie is still 'out of it' this morning. He licked about 2 teaspoons last night of pork. I gave him some pepcid this morning, and put out some NV turkey with lots of water. He took maybe a teaspoon and then vomited. I took away the turkey and went back to the pork.

I will be getting off my butt soon and giving him some Reglan. The idiot tenants upstairs are not hammering! they do such disrespectful things...I swear they are building a house up there.....

just wish I knew what a 'friable' duodenum means....I will find out next week....sigh

:hugs: Try to stay calm. Worrying will only exhaust you, and it won't alter the test results. Easier said than done, though, I know.

I'd guess that friable just means delicate, but that's no real surprise given his history with digestive issues.

Hang in there. Give Artie a cuddle for me :vibes:
