Okay, hi. I was able to get my rescue cat to eat some wet food previously as you may have read in my previous posts from before. She is very, very picky. I mean, extremely picky. When I adopted her, the rescue shelter said that they normally recommend all wet food, but my baby didn't like wet food, so she ate Acana kibble while there. I tried different wet foods without success until I accidentally bought Iams kitten pate. She loved that one and would eat 1/2 wet, 1/2 dry until she must have gotten tired of the Iams and started refusing it. I then tried different Fancy Feast Classics without success until turkey & giblets and chicken & liver. She then got tired of those.

It's hard rotating wet foods for her because she usually refuses most. After she got tired of the Fancy Feasts, I was able to get her to eat Nutro Natural Choice pates for a short while, before she quit eating that. Then, she started eating Sheba mixed grills, chicken grills, and turkey grills and I rotated those along with 1/2 kibble. I got Fortiflora previously and that worked for a short while until she refused it. Then, I was able to crumble up a Vet's Best hairball tablet onto her wet food to get her to eat a little.

She threw up after eating wet food (I think) multiple times one morning and I had to hospitalize her after she went into shock from all the vomiting. Since then, she doesn't want any wet food except for Hill's a/d that she was eating for a short while. Now, she doesn't even eat much of the Hill's a/d and I took it away because it's so high in calories and isn't good for everyday food.

After I brought her back home from her second hospitalization, she was eating Hill's kitten kibble since they fed that to her there (to get her to eat, probably). After she came home, she refused her regular Orijen kibble and the leftover Acana kibble. I figured out that she wanted that Hill's kitten kibble, so I got her a bag and she started gobbling it up right away. I had to get her off of it, so the good news is that when I tried to transition her, after a couple days of her refusing to eat any of the Hill's kitten kibble that was "contaminated" with Orijen kibble, she decided to eat some Acana Pacifica kibble. Then, she finally tried the Orijen Regional Red kibble. To get her off that Hill's kitten kibble, I had ordered 12 oz. bags of the other 2 Orijen kibble flavors and same with the other 2 Acana flavors. Now, my picky cat baby will only eat the Orijen Regional Red kibble. I just ordered a huge bag online that should get here soon, I hope.

She is drinking lots of water again now that she is only eating kibble. She loves to drink water out of my drinking glasses, so after I decided not to bother fighting her on this and decided to designate certain drinking glasses to her (and after a few times of me mistakenly drinking out of those glasses myself =/), she now drinks water out of those glasses, especially the one on my nightstand. I think she ignores her cat fountain. =/ It is good news that she drinks lots of water when she only eats dry kibble.

I had bought $50 worth of Nutro Natural Choice pate, Nature's Variety Instinct, and Merrick, but my cat refuses to even try them after I open the cans. She also refuses the old cans of Iams kitten pate, Fancy Feasts, Sheba grills that she used to eat before. Fortiflora is not working. Crumbled Vet's Best hairball tablets no longer work after she threw up. I think she associates wet food and the Vet's Best hairball tablets with throwing up now. Maybe even the Fortiflora.

I read on here about topping wet food with crumbled Temptations treats, so I tried that, but she only ate a tiny bit of the Temptations treats off the top. She didn't even eat all of the treat crumbles and she loves her treats, except after her hospitalizations, she no longer seems to love them as much as before. =/ I was going to buy a blender to blend up her wet food, but realized that won't help as she refused to eat them as soon as she smells them.

I just tried a sample of Primal freeze-dried that I received, but she only ate a tiny bit before ignoring it. If it worked, I was going to try to get her on a raw diet or 1/2 raw diet. I haven't tried cooking her food yet or preparing my own raw food for her, so I do still have to try that...I did try a raw chicken wing months ago that just got a couple licks and then a blank stare.

What else can I try for wet food cans? She lost so much weight when she vomited and then was given horrible, bitter liquid medications that I think was the cause of her not eating for five days until a vet specialist prescribed Mirtazapine. Now I know to avoid liquid medications that make her foam and drool and unhappy! She's regained some weight after eating the Hill's a/d & Hill's kitten kibble and now seems to have regained a bit more weight with the Orijen Regional Red kibble. At this time, I really need her to keep gaining weight to try to get her back up to her 7.2 lbs or to keep her weight stable (she dropped all the way down to 5 lbs 11 ozs), so I'm not taking away any kibble, but I would like to get her eating some wet food again.

I've just been opening cans of wet food and then having to toss them away. It's not fun when the can costs a couple dollars, but my cat is well worth the effort. I don't want her getting sick again and I'd at least like to get her back on a 1/2 wet, 1/2 dry kibble diet. .

I forgot to add that my picky baby refuses to eat when wet food is mixed with dry kibble. I tried this early on and I thought she was eating because she kept going to the food bowl, but it turns out that she didn't touch her food all night. Not even a bite. =/

I can't comment on wet food brands as they're so different over here. I have read that sometimes cats who reject freeze dried raw will happily eat defrosted frozen raw. Also, I'd be very surprised if she refuses plainly cooked 'human' meat. She might accept a homemade cooked food. It's less messy than home grinding raw meat, and she might really love it. http://www.catinfo.org is a great resource both for transitioning off kibble and for homemade guidance.
