I have 3 cats and I have 2 litter boxes. They use both so that is not the problem.

All of a sudden after like 4 years, Gizmo does not cover up when he pees. He just walks out of the box.

Lucky does not cover up when he poops. He digs and buries for minutes, but never covers.

Any suggestions for my 2 problems

Thanks

Some cats just don't bury their waste. Kittens especially taken early from their mothers and not shown by her litter pan manners will not bury their waste because they were never taught how to. It could be that you don't have enough litter in your box to please your cat. A cat that is living outside digs a deep hole to bury the waste to keep them safe from predators. I would try a bigger litter box and more litter.

This is Zoey exactly. lol. She covers her pee like crazy but not her poop.

Saki on the other hand spends like 20 minutes in there making sure everything is very well covered up

After reading this I realize that my cats never cover their pee. I think probably the litter absorbs it fast enough that there's no need.

On the other hand, of my 3 cats, only Skinny is the bad one about covering her poo. She tries hard though, and it is always a laugh. She poos then starts kicking up litter trying to bury it but it misses. She turns to check if she did and since it is still there she goes digging like crazy again. She does it one more time until there's no more litter to move (it's all on either side of the poo). She gives up by now because by then I am there with the little scooper to get rid of it. I also tell her to do her pooing when she is outdoors, she has no problem there!

Sometimes Loki is just to busy to bother because he is already on another mission
- so who has the time to bury the pee/poo.

Then there are other times where he does a fabulous job!!
