Peeing on my bed...while I'm in it!

Ziggy is almost 3 years. old. Has always been a super-polite cat with awesome litter box habits. The only time I've ever witnessed him spraying was right before he was neutered.  He does go outside, and uses the facilities out there, but when he's inside it's never been a problem. He does prefer his box to be super clean...if there's a clump or 2 he will yell at me and I scoop it, nbd. So about  3 weeks ago, right about sunrise, he got up in my bedroom window to survey his kingdom as is his usual morning routine. Well, he started yowling and fussing and I just figured he wanted to go out, but I didn't let him (partly because I am not about to get up at 4:45 am and partly because I don't want him to think that I'm at his beck and call if you know what I mean.) Well he proceeded to pee in my bed, right next to (or on) my husband. Like a real squat and pee. Naturally I blamed myself and said I should've let him out, box wasn't scooped, my fault. Jump ahead to yesterday morning: Sunrise perusal of the grounds in the window, starts yowling, then proceeds to stand in my bed and spray all over my husband. I walk him to his box, he poops, I scoop it, change the sheets, and attempt to put my head back down for a few minutes. He walks over to my side of the bed (while he's still on the floor) meows in my face and sprays all over the wall and curtains that are next to my bed.  Ideas?

Do you have any males or females around the outside of the house?? Sometimes neighboring cats can affect cats who are currently indoors. Maybe he felt threatened and had the need to mark his territory?

Every once in a while I see a tuxedo cat outside so I'm not sure if he/she was out there at either one of those times. There was a lone turkey in the yard the morning of the spraying, but that's not so unusual.

From your description, I would bet that he definitely is seeing something outside and is getting too excited, like another cat. I would get some blinds and keep them closed.  All the luck and keep us posted.

Thank you. That's what I figured too, I was just confused because that behavior has never been in his wheelhouse (I've had him since he was 9 weeks old.) I was also thrown off because the first time it wasn't spraying, it was regular peeing. Aaah my little freak-show:)

Take your cat to the vet and rule out a health issue first. Cats that have a uti  pee outside the litterbox.

Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions. Just a quick update, there have been no other instances since I last posted. I did however confirm that my little tuxedo'd friend does indeed hang around our driveway right under my bedroom window. I saw him/her myself this morning bright and early about quarter to five. Ziggy didn't see him though as he was down filling his face so I couldn't see his reaction. We are going to have the vet check his urine though, just to rule anything else out. Thanks again!
