I came on to this site because I adopted 2 kittens and have been feeding them blue buffalo and was curious if the food I've been giving them is healthy, and then I read somewhere on here that it's not so the kittens are now 1years old still healthy and I want tomake sure I'm buying them the healthiest food possible no matter the price. I love my new kittens

Oh my goodness..there are soo many good foods on the market. It depends on your budget.

I am so glad you are asking this question while they are young...

I would suggest wet food. I am not an expert, but exclusive dry does cause problems in the long run.

I think grain free, limited ingredients are the best,.

It is easier to start them out on this stuff, than have to change after they are addicted and geared up for the cheaper, crappy brands...we call them kitty crack...

Try using the 'search' function. I think you will find many threads devoted to this....

Good luck...love those kitties...pictures are always great....

You can check out the Nutrition forum: http://www.thecatsite.com/f/64/cat-nutrition

And here's a good web site that goes ino cat nutrition: http://www.catinfo.org

There really is no "healthiest" or "best" commerical food out there
The grain-free Blue Buffalo foods are good if that's what your cats will eat. There are many other good brands to feed if you wish to rotate them in on occasion or even switch brands. Canned foods are a better choice over dry foods.

Raw diets are more natural and healthier (IMO) than any commercial food but not everyone can or wants to feed that, which is understandable. There are commerical raw pet foods for those who don't wish to make raw from a recipie.

The healthiest food for your cats is the one they will eat.

Having said that, I prefer and always encourage cat owners to feed a good grain free food.  I have a kitty with a sensitive tummy and he can tolerate Innova EVO foods, so that's what we feed all our kitties.  For dry food, we feed Taste of the Wild.
