Hey Ya'll,
So about 5-6 weeks ago my cat started developing this bump on her nose. Originally it looked like a pimple; a few times I squeezed it but only blood came out. Over the weeks it has gotten much larger and looks like a sore of some kind. She is feline herpes positive and it did start shortly after introducing a new dog into the house;she's been an only child since that day. I know the best answer is the vet, but I'm trying to avoid that since she is so awful; even under heavy sedation she is feisty. Any thoughts are appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi!

It could be just a  sore from injury or other cause, or it could be something else.  One way to go would be 2-3 times daily application of an OTC antibiotic cream and see how it responds but without proper treatment it could easily become infected.  If it doesn't get better, or it gets worse, a vet visit is the next thought even though this is hard on your cat.  Rescue remedy cat help calm cats, and some vets will make house calls.

I have a herpes kitty that gets similar nose sores though there usually in her nose or on the tip. I use a cream the vet gave me called Dermalone and it usually clears them up in a couple of days. Do you have her on lysine? If not you could try that for a couple days with antibiotic cream and see if that helps. If that doesn't work or it gets bigger I would def call the vet. Maybe you could find a housecall vet to avoid the stress of taking her out of the house.

So it sounds like it might just be a herpes outbreak. She has had a lot of stress lately, with moving across country with her to getting a dog. I'll see if I can get some dermalone and see if that helps. She is on lysine too, gets it everyday. Thanks for the advice!

I have 2 cats I rescued when they were just weeks old, both are pretty feral but stay near home. both look like they get bit by something. One goes in after she has enough, the other just puts up and gets ate up. I clean them up with peroxide  when I can catch them . not sure what else to do?

In this case, I think you need to get rid of whatever it is that's biting their noses or the problem is going to persist.  In the meantime, is using the peroxide helping?  If not, then i would switch to something else.  One person above used a cream prescribed by a Vet.   But as i said, until you get rid of the bugs, if that's what it is, don't think the problem will completely go away
