I got a kitten in September from a PetCo. He is a lynx point siamese from ReTails (they provided his papers, so he is in fact pure bred). Due to an std he picked up from his birth mom, he had to have an eye removed
This all happened before I got him.

Since the beginning of this year, he had been acting off. He eats and drinks and uses his box just fine, but he has been losing weight. He also walks like his legs are stiff and his behavior has been a little strange. He just sits and stares at nothing for hours, often hunched over.

I am wondering if maybe the infection in his eye affected his brain. I'm very worried about my baby and I was hoping someone on here could give me some advice. Does anyone have experience with issues like this? What should I do?

I'm sorry you're going through this with your kitty.  Your first stop should be at your vet's office for a thorough check up and evaluation.  Maybe the vet can provide some good insight into what's going on.  The "STD" you're referring to is most likely Feline Herpes and is actually a life-long condition, but can be managed.  Most of the time it shows as respiratory and eye problems.

Another thing I noticed is that when he walks, his claws keep getting stuck in the carpet. His claws catch nearly every step he takes. That didn't uses to happen.

It sounds like he really doesn't feel good. I don't this is related to the eye. The sitting hunched over staring at nothing sounds a lot like my kidney cat when she isn't feeling well. Not saying your cat has kidney problems, it could be any number of things. I think he needs a thorough exam from a vet. Be sure to tell them everything you wrote about.

Got him to the vet. The vet thinks he may have feline leukemia but we won't know until the tests come back next week. I'm praying he doesn't have it and is just sick, but if he tests positive then I won't prolong his suffering. It's just so hard because he's only a baby. I'm trying to stay hopeful.

Test results came back. He has dry infectious peritonitis and it's 100% terminal. The best we can do now is make him comfortable. I am heartbroken but I gave him the best life I could. I hope he knows he is loved.

:hugs: I am so sorry. It sounds like he had a rough time before you got him. The months with you must have felt like heaven. I'm certain he knows he is loved. You've given him the best life possible. He's lucky to have you.

Your cat was blessed to have time with you, in your caring and loving home.  May he now be without pain.  Rest in peace.
