My wild cat had kittens. one of them she stopped nursing as I was looking her over she had white stuff that looks like rice on her fur (under chin, round eye) I wiped it off but it came back. Before anyone starts getting mad that shes not at a vet when I found her this morning she already had blow flies around her and she can hardly walk. the others are walking around good.

It's possible the kitten is dying.  You could attempt to warm her up gently, and try bottle feeding her with kitten formula (obtainable at pet stores), but if she isn't suckling then the only thing to do (if anything besides trying to keep her warm and comfy) is gavage feeding (that's inserting a feeding tube into her stomach) but I can't teach you how to do that over the internet, it would require a visit to a vet.  Again I'm sorry, but it sounds like nature is going to take its course.

How old is the kitten? Was she okay/normal until today?

It does sound likely, unfortunately, that nature may take its course.

Is this kitten home with you?  Ie, you can give her all the care there is to give by a concerned caretaker?   WHICH country are you in?

If the kitten is severly sick, prob nothing can be done to help it survive.

But if the kitten is "just" weak, its very possible it can be saved, by vigorous fighting.

So, the first is to keep it warm, which means, using some sort of heat pad on low setting (good alternaive is a rice socket, micro it, and wrap up in a towel - you get the idea?).   Or carry at your chest.

You can always try and perk in some energy by smearing some glucose sugar.  Best is glucose sugar proper, but white caro syrup or even honey, works too.  This you can give already before she is properly warmed up.

To give water or  "food", the easiest with weak kittens is to use a little needleless syringe, or even a dropper.    Tummy down, head up, in the corner of the mouth, cautiously so the kittens manage to swallow.

Somebody above [StephenQ] mentioned a tube into teh stomach.  Yes, its effective and often used by very seasoned rescuers, but its nothing for a new be, as its dangerous and difficult, unless you had beed showed properly by someone who can. And can lend you the right gears.  AFAIK not even all vets knows how to do it...

But using a syringe works nicely, if you do it the right way and are cautious enough.

OK, she is surely dehydrated.  Some water is good.   A nice homemade pedialyte is you use  mineral water with lotsa of different salts. Let the gas out. YOu can mix in some glucose sugar or white caro syrup - and voilá - you have a nice homemade pedialyte....    Warm it up to body temp before giiving, like with every fluid you give her.

Re  food.

Can you get raw goat milk?  Use it.

If you cant get, bootled full fat goat milk is oK.  Otherwise use some  kitten mothermilk replacement (=kmr) you can find in a pet shop or at the vets or in Walmart.

There are different sorts, some better some OK, some bad - I wont write the brands unless we know exaclty where you are and what you do have...

After each feeding, burp her and stimulate to pee and poo....   Not being relieved may be almost as dangerous as not getting food...

I think it was the most important for the moment.   We wait for the reports.

Keep warm /warming up , make sure she gets water. make sure she get suitable kmr or goat milk...

Re these white Rice corns...    Im thinking on tape worm  segments, who do look like RICE....  Probably from mom.   Are there more such in the bedding??

Otherwise it could be some sort of  fly larvae...

More reports, including even if the kitten is still alive, are needed.

You may want to consider a humane way to euthanize the kitten, if in fact its dying which we can't be sure of but suspect.  Then if possible spay the mother.

Why does this sound like maggots to me?  If so, I don't hold much hope for poor kitten.  If kitten is still holding on, a photo might help us here. Hopefully you took it to the vet.   Please let us know what happened?

I couldn't bear to look at the picture and will not. I am sorry the baby died so awfully.

My wild cat had kittens.
A feral cat is a domesticated cat that has returned to the wild, or the descendants of such an animal. PLEASE - get your feral cat spayed! Please so no more unwanted kittens are born. There are already too many feral cats and too many feral kittens being born into a life they have not chose. It is by our hand and by that same hand we can help to stop the breeding. Contact your local TNR Organization (Trap/Neuter/Return) and they will come out and help trap your cat and/or any others needing capture and get them neutered for you. The organization can help you with the kittens that you have left - then need daily handling now to get them used to humans.

If you would like to tell us your general location, we would be happy to help find such an organization.

I am very sorry that your kitten has died.  May this little kitten now rest in peace: run free across the bridge little one.

With respect for the kitten who has died I will now lock this thread.  @kaybug152   If you wish to post a thread in memory of this little kitten, or seek support, please feel free to do so in our Crossing the Bridge forum.

This thread is now closed.
