My cat is Oliver. He has some serious pica disorders. We try our best to keep the house kitty safe but for some reason he just gets into trouble. We have already done one abdominal sx and and endoscopy to remove foreign objects. I can't afford another surgey. I am really worried bc today he vomited a piece of string. He looks alert but not as normal. I really am hoping he vomited it all out.

Oliver is still not acting normal but he did eat alittle this am and I have given him water by a syringe. He hasn't vomitted since last night. He has peed and pooped a small amount. Do you think he will be ok? He is not lethargic just not being himself. I really want him to eat his full portion of food.

Yes I only feed him wet food. I give him nature's variety. I gave him a few treats he ate those but he doesn't want anything to do with his food. I am really hoping he gets better soon. He is still grooming himself and has gone to the litter box.

So I guess the real question here is....do you know where that piece of string or rope came from, and what else might have been with it that would have caused him to vomit?  Usually the worry with string is if it gets way down into their intestines and then gets wrapped around things down there.  That usually takes some time.  But if he vomited some up, it wouldn't have been in his system that long to have still been in his tummy, I wouldn't think.  That's why I'm wondering WHAT it really was that he ate.  Rough rope?  What could it have been?  Could there have been some chemical on it that is making him feel bad now?

No! I have no clue where that rope came from. The problem is that sometimes my dad leaves the garage door open and it could have been in there. He just ate alittle but not all of it.

Can you look around the garage and see if there is more of the rope?  Does your dad recognize the piece the cat threw up?

Yes we will look in the garage this week... But thankfully Oliver is back to normal. He is is eating and having normal bowel movements. I am very happy that it did not progress to anything serious. I love me little kitty but I just wish he wasn't such a trouble maker. Thank you to everyone who responded back to me.
