I know he will, eventually. It's just frustrating that he keeps peeing on things he shouldn't be going on. :( He mostly pees on the dog pee pads, which is fine because that is what they are for, but I'd rather him go in the litter box. Every time he goes on the pee pad, I put him in the litter box after. He kind of looks at me like "lady, why you put me in here?" then walks away. He has such a little attitude. lol. He used to get mad at me when I used to stimulate him. When I would bring him back to my room, he'd go on my bed, go to the corner, and turn his back to me. haha. He'd only stay mad for a few seconds, but it was still cute of him.

He is young yet for the litter pan. He should get it over the next two weeks. The fact he is using the dogs' pee pads is a good sign. Of my four now three-month-old kittens, one used the pee pad next to the litter box for about two weeks after her brothers began using the litter pan beautifully. She is the only girl, and shy, but I kept putting her in and she finally caught on. No problems since! It will happen. :)

When we first got Luci she didn't like the litter in the litter box. so I got her an empty box and she used it. I would sprinkle some litter on the spots she used so she would get use to the litter being in there and she eventually started using the spots that had litter. Then I would add a little more litter each time and she got use to it and ended up using it fine.

Try putting the pee pad in the empty litter box and just put some litter on the spots where he does pee. He will eventually get use to it and start using the box before you know it.

When we first adopted Eclipse, I remember seeing something about kitten socialization classes, where peopel bring kittens to meet and interact w/other kittens.  I think some of the shelters and rescues held them.  I wonder if this would help a little w/ gum drop (love that name!)  Has anyone else heard about this?

Quick update.

The little one isn't feeling too well. :( He's been eating smaller portions and has had runny stool--not quite diarrhea, though. I've added more water to his formula and a little bit of pumpkin to his solid food for precaution, and to hold him off until his appointment on Saturday.  He also has a mild eye infection. I'm going to get that check out as well. I want to catch whatever it is before it gets worse. For right now I'm just taking warm water on cloth/tissue and wiping off the stuff on his eye. He also pooped a long piece of stool. It was a good 4-5 inches--it cleaned out his intestines. Go pumpkin! I'm guessing that is also why he gained no weight since yesterday, but I switched to feeding him 10 cc every 2 hrs just in case it isn't.

Other than that, he's almost got the litter box thing down, and he plays most of the time he's up--running and exploring my room. He saw his reflection for the first time last night and freaked. He happened to hit his nose on the glass as he went to smell it, thought the reflection hurt him, and started swinging and jumping at it with a little growl. He is a little jumped, and he's FAST. He also hissed for first time earlier today--at me 'cause I woke him up. lol. Oh! And he scared my dog. Spike, my Chorkie  (Yorkie/Chihuahua mixed,) put his small little nose near the kitten. He wasn't expecting the kitten to be playing at the time, and got his little nose bitten. He's a little scaredy dog so he ran away, peeking out from behind me to see the kitten again. ;) ;) It was super cute.

Sorry to hear he has an eye infection and diarrhea, but glad you are headed to the vet on Saturday. He hasn't been wormed yet, has he?

No, he hasn't. The feed store near me, and the pet store, didn't have a dewormer for kittens. I was going to wait next week to get him dewormer with the vets at the feed store, since they are only 1 mile from my house, but the vet will most likely do it on Saturday. His stool harder up since his last two feesings. He wanted solid food mixed with formula, no bottle, so I put pumpkin in it.

Sounds good. The vet will probably give you the de-worming medicine on Saturday. Glad the pumpkin is helping to firm up his stool.

I'm not worried about his diarrhea. He seems to respond well to pumpkin--and he seems to like it. I'm more worried about him not eating. He screams for his bottle, then only drinks 10-12 cc instead of the 25 cc he's supposed to. That's the reason I decided to feed him 10 cc every 2 hrs until he eats how he should, or until he sees the vet.

I was wondering... could he be eating smaller portions, and being generally fussy, because he's teething? He as a bunch of the bigger, back teeth coming in.

I think you hit the nail on the head! Teething is terribly uncomfortable. How's he doing today?

Update!

At 5 weeks, the little bugger weighs 19.1 oz!

×He's so active, it's not even funny. He likes to hop around my room. I recently let him wonder around my room, and he loves it.
×He's also taken up the habit of napping on my lap. He'll stay up until he's on my lap, then pur while he falls alseep.
×He's using the litter box, though he still has accidents from time to time.

Other than that, the little man will have his first vet visit tomorrow. :) Wish him luck!

@Handsome Kitty  Thanks! It's been a joy raising him so far. Even with all the bites, scratches, and sleepless nights I've had. :)

@sarthur2  He's better, actually. I think him starving himself yesterday did a number on him. He's been eating like crazy today. He actually settled down with his frantic feeding too. He calming drinks the bottle now, though he does still drink it on the fast side. I just love watching his ears move while he drinks. :)

After he had the diarrhea, and then taking a long poo a few hours later,  cleaned him out. He hasn't pooed today. Whatever he does tomorrow I have to bring to the vet with me. It's gunna be gross carrying a thing of poo for 30 minutes on the way to the vet. haha.

You have done a wonderful job raising him!

One tip regarding litter box use, at his age their attention span is extremely short, so it is very helpful if you have his box very close by at all times, or even for now several boxes so he always has one under his nose. It works :)

So glad he is better! Eh, so what, a little poo in a bag. That is so the vet can check for parasites.

He is too young for any vaccines. Good luck tomorrow! Let us know how it goes! :)
