Warning: They eat other things like play doh and paper and I cringed and laughed during the whole video, but I guess my question is: would YOU eat cat food?

I've been tempted to try but I'm too much of a chicken to do so. Has any one tried their cat's food? It can't be THAT bad!

Evo 95% chicken and turkey canned food SMELLS like something I would like to spread on crackers :lol3:. I haven't gotten up the guts to try it though. The other foods, ugh no. They smell terrible, and smell affects how something tastes to you.

Definitely! Funnily, my sister says some of the cans of food I feed to my cat smells like her.. poop!
And I thought the food smells a little tasty.

So I always wonder if whether the food smells bad or my sister has weird poop.

Yes. I won't give anything to my cat that I haven't tried. Even their meds. If I have to give liquids to my cat, I want to know what it tastes like. A bit anal? Probably.

I haven't, but hubby has.  Can't remember what brand we were feeding then, but he was curious what it tasted like.  He said it 'wasn't bad.'  But when I asked if he wanted some for dinner, he declined.

No, I've never tried my cat's food and nor do I plan to. I feed a mix of freeze dried raw and high quality all ( and almost all) meat canned to Asha. Raw is out anyway, and as for the rest - I'm a veggie. I don't even like the smell of meat :lol3:

(I won't even mention the 'junk food' wet that Shad goes through phases of eating...though at the moment he's on all meat canned :woo: )

I do the tasting meds part too ...
Something all vets should do! Asked my vet if she knew what prednisone tasted like? She had no idea, I did [emoji]128552[/emoji] after a recent bout of poison ivy EVERYWHERE...

What does prednisone taste like?

And what does cat food taste like?

I think it's awesome you'll try the food and meds to make sure it's suitable for your kitties :)

I've tasted my cats foods, not the horrible cheap canned stuff though. And if I won't taste it, my cat won't be bought it.
What surprises me is it tastes salty, at least the Purina ONE dry food does. The Purina Beyond (um I really only tasted a teeny bit) reminded me of baby food. Bland, faintly sweet. Not terrible at all.

Oh my God, NO!
I must confess that all these years I have been opening cans of wet food, I click the top and turn my head.  If I had to concentrate on it, it would make me sick.  I also tend not to inhale the aroma as I am serving Speedy.

Maybe it is because I have OCDisorder, or perhaps because when I was in second grade, a playmate urged me to eat dry cat food and I can remember like it was yesterday, that is, it was the worst thing I could have put in my mouth.

That being said, I still open two cans of Fancy Feast daily, Speedy will lick the gravy and leave the solids and I know she enjoys them!

Same here. I don't feed cheap supermarket brands, and pet food has to be "fit for human consumption" in the EU, so what's it hurt to take a little taste?

Meds are something I always taste, even at the shelter, so I know how to go about hiding them, if necessary.

I'm also a vegetarian, so I won't be trying Ruby's food.   But even when I wasn't, I had no desire to try cat food.   Though some cat food really doesn't look much different that those cans of deviled ham spread we ate when I was a kid.

I often think of the cans of Underwood deviled ham when I open some cans of cat foo, too.
I thought it was funny when she said it tasted like Taco Bell.

That is good that the cat food has to be fit for human consumption in the EU.  I don't know if it is the same here, in US?  I still could not try it.   I do buy my canned foodsin supermarkets and I think they are a good choice for many people because of finances.  I cannot afford to have hot water in my house, but I still make sure there is cat food in the house at all times.

I can you that theophylline tastes rather like unsweetened maple syrup, at least to me it did. We were giving it to Banshee for some issues she was having and she was taking liquid theophylline. I tasted it because I wanted to know. She used to make the worst faces and I'd say, "It's unsweetened maple syrup! Not that bad! Stop!" I always wished it tasted like bananas because she loved bananas so much. Eventually they switched us over to the tablets and I'd halve the tablet. She got two halves a day, one in the morning and one at night. She dealt with the tablets easier than with the liquid.

Mouse turns his nose up at my food and I turn my nose up at his.
When I bought little cans of Thrive white fish and Thrive chicken I did look at and sniff those and think they seemed better quality than most canned food for humans but I still didn't taste them....  maybe I should have.
