Hey Thecatsite members, so about 4 months ago I was driving and found a female cat in the road.. It was winter then and very cold, I stopped and picked her up.. She was in rough shape, possibly starving to death, anyway I brought her home & fell in love with her sweet demeaner and named her kissy. A few weeks later she went into heat and my male cat mounted her several times. Her nonexistent stomach has gotten plump and round, nipples are pink & large. By my estimate we are approaching the end of her pregnancy.. (They were mating in early to mid-march) In the beginning of may she had yellowish discharge that she mostly licked away, now the past few days she's been bleeding, not a lot, and is going in and out of closets. She is eating a lot as well as drinking. She seems to be acting normal, wants to cuddle, sleeping, eating habits.. But I am worried. I called the animal hospital and they said I could bring her in but if she is about to go into labor it may be best to wait so she doesn't delay delivery.. So now I am stuck. Worried and anxious. Anyone have any similar experiences? Did your cat ever have bloody discharge?

Red colored discharges before and after are common, the problem is to decide, how bloody they are...

You tell you dont want to go to vets, so to not delay the delivery.   Its a trap in the thinking!    1.  If there IS a real problem with her, she may die, or at best, the kittens will die, probably before the delivery.  OR at the delivery, rupturing open.   So you want to do your outmost to check her out before the final crisis...  This check up will be at best, buying yourself peace of mind, but fully possibly, saving her.

Second.   You seems not to be sure when they mated, as you count, she is barely into the range of 60.  And she already behaves like the delivery was near.

But you dont want to risk they are delivered prematury.  Premature kittens are always a fight uphill, at the best.   While cats manage a somewhat too late deliveries better than humans.

So, I think, as you DO have access to experienced vet obstetrician, let him check her up.   Even if it isnt for free.

Next.  If your tom isnt a purebred stud, its highly recommendable you neuter him asap.   Cats arent prevented by lactacing, and having an intact tom nearby, she will surely get into heat perhaps already a week after delivery.   And get pregnant again...

With time, please consider spaying of her too, although its not the same hurry - the usual is to wait till the kittens are weaned, at about 8 weeks.

Im sending our links.

Good luck!

Thank you, I am bringing her to the vet tonight as there has been no change. We have an appointment with the local spay program to get our male fixed so this doesn't happen again. Thanks for your imput!
