I have 5 pounds of ground rabbit/bones/ organs. To that I will be adding Alnutrin for ground meat/bones/organs. How much fish oil do I add to that? I have read 2,000 or 3,000 mg per pound of meat and I have also read 4,000 mg for 5 pounds of ground meat/bones/organs. What is the correct amount of fish oil to add?

Hi nolsen120!

In the recipe from Catnutrition.org, 4000mg of salmon oil is used per 5.7 pounds of meat/bones/organs (4.4pounds of meat with bones, 14oz heart and 7oz liver.)
So if you have 5 pounds of meat/bones/organs, you need 3500mg of salmon oil.
She recommends sprinkling a few drops of salmon oil over the food every two to three days, because fish oil is fragile and may be broken down when the food is frozen/thawed. So this addition of the oil might up the amount of fish oil to 2000-3000mg per pound of meat.

You can also replace salmon oil with other kinds of fish oil like the recipe from Catinfo.org.
