my 8 year old cat who has never been sick, has been drooling for the last couple of days. Not normal for him. I inspected his teeth thinking maybe a toothache but didn't see anything. He seems to be eating and drinking. But is very clingy...more so than normal for this major lap cat. I tried looking in his mouth again and think the back of his throat looks red. Sore throat? No swollen glads. Does have a dry nose. Any ideas?

Welcome to TCS, Mauicat! Best guess is that the drooling is caused from either an abscessed tooth, gum inflammation (that you may not be able to detect), or even sinus related without nasal discharge. There are other health related possibilities which a vet would have to diagnose but guessing this is an oral problem. I would not wait another day to take my cat to the vet for a thorough mouth check! 8 years is usually about the age (and sometimes much younger) when dental issues start erupting in kitties. Keep us posted!!! :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
