so I have a cat who had 2 kittens, 2 days back a tom cat attackedy cat and from that time I can't find one of the kittens, I have tried looking around for 2 days but the cat doesn't seem to be finding the kitten. I just read mother cats try finding their lost kitten for months which I don't find in my cat, there are just too many spots for those kittens to hide, so I just want to know how kittens react when they are lost or how long can they survive without food. I don't know if the mother cat has been feeding it cause I keep failing to find the kitten. Only the other one is with his mother all the time. Talking of spots, I meant to say there are a lot spots in my home for those kittens to hide

Well, I am not so sure but I'd say 5 to 6 weeks, maybe more.. And yes, they were somewhere in open where other cats could come easily. (They were not where they usually stay)

Kittens that young cannot very long without food, more than 12 hrs and they could be in critical condition due to low blood sugar.

But, being that old, you should be able to hear the kitten meow.

I suggest leaving food out in the area the kitten went missing in. Use smelly canned food or canned tuna in water. Even setting a small humane trap with food in it (a squirrel size trap is best for kittens under 12 wks of age.)

That old kitten can survive some time, unless wounded, or attacked again by another predator.

So continue to seek, not least, when it darkens up, it become quiet and you can hear meows.  Have a search lamp with you and look up into trees and such, IF the kitten is hiding somewere up, in a tree, or on a roof...

Seek at most roughly where it disappeared, but also around - it may have fled running...   Put up posters...   It was perhaps hopefully found??

Small kittens are more touchy, but we had cases where newborns survived  both one and even two days...   True, its almost alike seeing witches flying around while fully sober, but yet, it happened...

Who said there are no witches nor dragons?  Huh??

So its just to continue to search till all hope is out.

ps.  The fact some do survive such desperate situations, doesnt means its nothing to worry about - many do perish and dies...   With such friends they really dont need any enemies...  The death ratio will be high. very high.

Well I think I have lost the kitten, but the male cat keeps coming back (probably for other kitten).

My cat keeps chasing him. Now I just want to know if male cats would attack mother cats to get to the baby kitten. The baby keeps himself hidden while the male cat keeps coming back and my cat keeps an eye around and chases him to fight.

I wont filosofise much if a mean tom will go into a full fight with a defending cat, mom or not, to get and kill a kitten he wants to disappear.   Normally I would guess, not, he will abstain if met with  decisive resistance.

But apparently you DO have a Situation there... Try and protect what you can, whatever it takes.  And  try to scare avaw the mean tom.  Or even better, try to trap it and get it neutered.  Getting him neutered will be the real blessing, both for the neigborhood, and also, a true gift to himself.

Good luck!

You say the mama and her kitten are in your house, therefore, I fail to understand how a mean tom cat who most likely killed the other kitten is allowed access to them.

Why can you not keep the tom away?

Put the mama and kitten in a room together with food, water and litter box and CLOSE the door.

Good luck!

Its about the time when they are not in the room, anyway.. I am taking care of it. Now the last question, how do I have the kitten not be afraid of me. I have tried feeding him and spending some time with them (like sitting around where I can be seen so he knows that I am of no danger) but I'd love more tips.
