Hi My kitten was 18 weeks when she 1st went into heat she is now 20 weeks and went into heat again. I am going to get her spayed but the vet I go to said they dont like to do it till the kittens have gotten all there shots. Angel was not able to because she was so sick and they did not want to mix meds in her. So she has 3 more weeks till she gets her last shot and can be fixed. I Also have a younger kitten Lucky who is about 16 weeks and she is biting angel like crazy, and licking her I think it is because of Angel's heat. I dont think she is hurting her, but I keep separating them. Is there anything I can do for angel till she is out of heat? Also lucky has 2 more sets of shots so she cant be spayed for 6 weeks. Should I wait for both of them to be able to go in together. The reason I was thinking that is because lucky has more energy, and i dont know how she will react to being home alone with out Angel, they do everything togher. There is no way for them to get out, we have an attached garage and the door always gets shut before we go into the house. So there is not a fear of her mating.

Kittens can be fixed as young as 8 weeks, they do not need to have all there shots before they are fixed. Unless you really really like your vet I would call around and try to find a different one. It is actually best for an animal to be fixed before they go into there first heat. I would get them both fixed together ASAP. You might need to keep them apart to give them some time to heal. We keep out girls seprate in a large dog crate after they are fixed for about a week.

Like Princess Purr said, kittens can be fixed from as young as 8 weeks and do not need all their shots.

But Angel has been sick or was sick at the time so that would be a cause for concern for some vets and would rather wait for an animal to recover from an illness before an operation is performed. This is also the case with shots. It's the personal prefernce of some vets and owners.

If Angel is well, then I would take her and get her fixed. Some vets will do the procedure even if she is in heat. And Lucky is old enough to get fixed as well. So you can choose to get them both done at the same time if you are able to.
