Hi everyone I am new to this site. I see a lot of great information.  So hopefully I can get some help with my issues.

I have 3 cats my two youngest are they ones who are having problems.

Grinder/female just turned a year old a few days ago. Her behavior is really worrying us. She was fixed in January. Everything went fine. Well for the past week, all day and night she is afraid of everything she is around. Nothing has changed but her. She is a long haired main coon mix with tabby. When she sees something she slowly walks up on it crouched down and swats at it a few times. Like almost seeing if its going to move. Then she jumps back away from whatever it is. She wont walk around the house like she normally would anymore. She just stays in one place unless I take her to another room. Then she stays in that room. She wont even go to her food and water. Shes always hunched down and her ears are turned down or back. She has her favorite toy which is a play watch with beads in it that she bats around, if i give it to her she will still play normal with it. But that is it . If we make sudden moves she freaks out jumps 3 feet high or back. She has not ran around in a week. She just moves very slowly. She is still taking affection so we are constantly petting and loving on her. Some of the things she is being cautious of are paper, blankets, shoe strings, shoes, belts, clothes, cords, cat toys, bags, boxes, just anything laying around. No aggressive behavior at all. She is doing this all the time and its not like her. She is normally running around playing with the other two or sleeping.

We are so lost on how to help her be her normal self. Any help would be great!

Ok problem #2 Is our middle child. Scooter, is a short haired yellow and white tabby. She is acting like shes is lost... is how i would describe it. At all hours of the day and night she is meowing. She is fixed also. She went threw 3 heats before we fixed her. Shes is the most vocal out of the 3. But this meowing is a strange meow. We love our cats they are our children. They are pampered and very much loved. So what is this odd lost cry?  It is getting a bit annoying. she never use to do it then 3 days ago it started and has not stopped. I cant catch her doing it to see what she is meowing at. But its always in the hallway or living room. I try to sneak and catch her but she sees me and stops. Or comes running and wants petted.

They all three have gotten along great from the start when we have introduced a new one to the family. The oldest Spaz grooms the younger two and they all sleep together when they nap.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!   lol

have you talk to a vet? that the first thing you should do, was there any loud  noises or anything recently that could set them off? do they go outside? maybe they saw a cat that bullies them?

They are inside cats. They have never even gotten out. They are all also declawed so we keep them safely inside. No vet visit yet Because they all 3 just had their yearly check ups at the beginning of April. Go figures all this starts after. :( Cant really afford another trip for the 2 right now. Was hoping to try to fix this one our selves first then if all fails then do another trip to the vet.

With Grinder not wanting to move around much, being hunched down and ears back I would be concerned that she may be in pain. Have you checked her paws to see if there is any nail regrowth?? Or perhaps she is having nerve regrowth pain or phantom pain of some kind. All the above can start months to years after declaw surgery, so that is where I would start.

Hi!

So weird, I'm having a similar issue with my 3yo cat.

I'm now thinking she may just be sick but she's acting scared of everything. She's crouching and sliming around our house like she's new here or something. She was even just shaking and every tiny noise is freakig her out. She's never been like this!

Good luck and I'll let you know about rocket

Her nails are healed up have been for a while. As has scooters they were done at the same time. Even before then i would nip the tips of their nails so they wouldnt scratch us when they would run from one side of the house to the other and up on the bed then back to the other side of the house.

A nail trim is very different from a declaw surgery. So, definitely not a fair comparison.

I highly suspect pain to be a factor, possibly for both cats; but, especially for Grinder.

I think it's best that they get a vet check.

Thanks for all the advice. They both get to go to the vet tomorrow as Their behavior is really getting worse rather than better. I will update tomorrow with what the good ole doc has to say.

How long has your kitty been acting like this? Its been a week and a day now with Grinder. So a vet visit is a must now. I will let you know what the say tomorrow evening. Its just odd how all of sudden she has changed her behavior. I did just now watch her slowly creep into the living room to go to her food bowl. But she acted like she needed to be very cautious.

Hi everyone update for grinder and scooter doc says they shouldnt be in any pain. paws look great for both grinder and scooter. He gave grinder something to calm her nerves a bit as for scooter she had a uti. But scooter has finished her meds and still squawks. Not sure what her deal is but i hope she gets over it.
