My CH kitty decided one day to stop pooping in the litter box. I cannot get him to start using it again, I've tried everything from changing the litter, adding cat attract putting him in there when I catch him starting to go on the floor...I'm very frustrated and don't know how to change this behavior!!!

I think you answered your own question when you posted on your other thread about having a CH kitty, when you said he had trouble getting in and out of the litter box!  The only thing I can think of, and possibly buy a large aluminum sheet pan, and either place very little litter in it, or line it with puppy pads, or something like the breeze type litter pads. You didn't really say what his limitations were. Apparently he is able to climb and fall off the bed, so I am thinking he gets around fairly well. I have watched videos of CH kitties, and applaud anyone caring for the poor little guys. I also read that they don't get any worse, and some how learn to adapt to their limitations. Thank you so much for loving and caring for this little guy!

Yes he does get around pretty well but so sad to watch.

The thing is, he pees in the litter box but no longer will poop in it...very strange.

Thanks for your helpful post.

You mention "the" litter box. Do you have more than one box? He may want to poop in a separate box from where he pees. If he's like our Ming Loy, she actually prefers a box with a lid, because she can prop herself up on it once in the box, rather than just fall over while turning around or whatever when she's in the box. Most cats actually like to be clean, so falling over in a dirty litter box may be part of the problem?

We have a lot of cats, so we did invest in an automatic box. Ming Loy's favorite boxes are these two:

The Marchioro small box (not the color, the size of the box. :lol3: ). Yes, it is expensive for a litter box. But there's something about the plastic that is different, and it is so easy to clean and keep clean.
And the automatic box we have. Yeah, it's a bit of a "clamber" for her to get up into it, but she does use this one the most. I think because it's always clean and supports her while she's in it? :dk: This is a huge investment, and likely not a good one unless you have a lot of cats. http://www.litter-robot.com/?gclid=CLqe1-fIvcUCFQkXHwodN0wARg

Where is he pooping? Just anywhere? A couple of places regularly? Soft stuff? Personal things? Hard surfaces? Have you taken him to a vet? Just like peeing outside of the box, pooping outside the box can also be a medical issue. Is he having issues passing his stool? Is he constipated? Does his tummy hurt? Maybe he has colitis? I'd want a vet exam, and perhaps an x-ray to see if there's anything going on you can't see or a vet can't feel.

I do have several litter boxes. Some with lids and some open that I scoop 1-2 times daily. Knowing his issues with falling, I try to keep the litter boxes as clean as possible.

This is the exact reason I posted on here!.  She is just a normal cat but has stopped pooping in the box but still pees in it.  I have tried everything I can think of and am at my wits end.

Hey! I have a cat with CH as well, he stopped using the litter box as well as he got worse. Don't know why it got worse when its not supposed to progress. But we decided to change our floors from carpet to tile because he just uses it on the floor now so we clean it up and wash the floor after he's done since he has a hard time getting into the litter box. We have also put down puppy pads for him and they seem to work. But Every once in a while he will actually go inside the litter box and I'll have to hold his back for him so he does not fall.

Sometimes I feel like he throws himself backwards on purpose, and I just wish CH didn't exist. I hope you are able to find a way to get him to using the litter box again. I had no luck with that. :(

Do you know where I can get the diapers from? I'm sorry your cat has only made it to 9 months :( I'm afraid my cat is going downhill and not going to make it very long either, he's about 3 now :(
