Can I put diatamaceous eart in a kitten's2 fur?

He cannot take any flea meds including natural oils because he is only 6 weeks old.

It is supposed to be safe if you use the FOOD GRADE only!  I bought some at a pet store. The only thing that would worry me is that the dust might irritate the kitten if inhaled. You are best either washing the kitten, and quickly dry. Also invest in a good flea comb, which you can use during or after bath. Have a bowl of water near by that you have added dish soap to, and drown fleas as you get them on the comb, into the soapy bowl. Do NOT  use any essential oils, as they could kill the kitten. Seems like a lot of people use Dawn dish soap to bathe pets. I could see using if an animal was covered in grease!  Yes it would work, but I prefer either baby shampoo, or Dr. Bronner's castile soap, the unscented with the light blue label. You can use it for lots of other cleaning uses - I clean my refrigerator with it! No odor..

Yeah, it isn't very good anyways. I takes days and weeks for it to work. I might as well give the fleas a cigarette and hope they get cancer.

I agree with Anne with Cats. No DE until they are at least 12 weeks old. Also when you bathe, if its an especially young one, you can get a hair dryer, set on low and warm and gently, gently dry the kitty while you're holding him, that way he'll get dry and it should keep him nice and warm. In your hand you can gauge the heat of it on the kitten.
