First of all I would like to explain that I have worked with a dog rescue for years and am a firm believer in spay/neuter and she will be spayed as soon as possible.  I have gone over the forums for days but have not found answers to my specific questions so I am hoping I can get some help.

1.  As she is a stray that lived in the woods behind our house well over a year I have no idea when she got pregnant or her specific changes in behavior.  I just know she is pregnant because as soon as she latched on to me I took her to the vet.  The vet took an ultrasound but the cat was uncomfortable so she could not tell exactly what kind of litter she had.  She adopted me about a month and a half ago.

2.  Her tummy has definitely gotten bigger but it's not as large as most cats.  Does this mean it will be a small litter?

3.  I have not once felt the kitten/kittens move.

4.  I thought for sure she was going into labor last night.  She was licking her genitals all the time and a pinkish substance kept coming out but, since last night, nothing.

Now she acts and looks perfectly healthy and I do not want to waste money at a vet just because I'm panicky but do I need to worry?  Yes, I read the article 'when to worry and not to worry' lol.

Do I need to worry?

She has a small tummy, does this mean a small litter or is there a problem?

I have never felt kittens move, is there a problem?

She had pink discharge and now nothing, is there a problem?

I'm sorry for not being clear in my first post.

If everything is going normal, and there is no reason to think otherwise, a small abdomen usually does mean a smaller litter, two to three. You won't feel the kittens move until the last week or so of pregnancy, I have had many pregnant cats and have seldom felt the kittens move. Pink discharge could have been her mucous plug, so delivery should happen shortly, within the next few days or so. Just keep an eye on her, if she acts calm and not distressed during delivery everything is going normally, if she has a kitten and there is a long time between the next one, as long as she is calm and taking care of the kittens everything is going well, there can be a pause between kittens that seems like a long time. If she is a first time mother, please watch and make sure she takes the kitten out of the sack and chews through the cord, you may have to help.Bless you for caring for her, she is truly fortunate to have found you. All the luck and keep us posted!

I'm new here myself, but my vet told me this stray cat is pregnant and I have never felt/seen the babies move - and she's end stage of her pregnancy.  If it's a small litter and they have room they might not have to move much?

However, my stray cat had a pink discharge Sunday night and I thought for sure she was going into labor...but she didn't.  Now she looks smaller to me, which is weird, and still acts pregnant but just does not seem to be getting near delivery.  She will not let ANY animals near her room, although she will come onto my bed with my dog.  I called my vet, who is the one who said she thought she saw kittens on the ultrasound, and they said I could bring her in but no rush.  I can't figure out if she's pregnant and if she isn't then I want to get her spayed, and I hate having to pay another vet visit.  Anyone here have a clue?  She really has me stumped, lol.

Also, I did check around the house to see if maybe she had some stillborn kitties, but nothing.  I was a dog foster so I am just unfamiliar with pregnant felines.  Thanks so much!

Ignore the post above, it has nothing to do with this thread, it was just a mistake.

I think she may have dropped - ie the kittens come down into positions, it happens usually about 2 days before delivery, or there about...  And yes, they often looks suddenly smaller...  Rub her tummy if she wants and allows, it helps some too.

Good luck!

Thank you, StefanZ.  I hope that is what it is.  She will not let me leave her, she follows me everywhere and if I sit for more than 60 seconds she insists on me rubbing her.  I was thinking maybe it was all an act just to get attention.
I was really getting used to the idea of kittens and adding cats to my home, as our current cat is very old and sickly.  I'll keep you posted...hopefully there will be something to post.

No kittens.  Well this is a sad day for me.  Last week I took Bianca to the vet because the discharge she had had and her smaller size just worried me.  Both vets said they did not feels kittens, assumed she had miscarried, and we set up a spay appointment, which is today.  I just got a call from the vet and there is one fetus, although by size only 30 days and she felt it was probably not viable, feeling it was being reabsorbed.  I had to make the horrible decision to either chance the pregnancy with my small FIV cat and put her through the spay process again, or spaying her now which would kill the fetus.  Ugh.  So I allowed the spay to continue.  I realize that this is probably the correct decision, but my heart is sickened over it.  I know none of you can really help me, I have no questions to ask, just putting this little bit of anguish out here.  I was really looking forward to the kitten.

I'm so sorry! Just hold on to the fact the vet thought the kitten was being reabsorbed. You wouldn't want to put your Bianca through all that again, you did absolutely the best thing for her. Just the thought of that little kitten is heartbreaking for you, try to focus on helping Bianca get through her surgery. I'll pray for you all, RIP sweet baby, the heavens gained another little angel!

I'm really sorry for your loss.

As Di said, focus on the fact that the baby was being reabsorbed. If it was born it would have been a big burden / pressure on Bianca and the baby himself might have suffered from illness if it was born. I'm sure you didn't want Bianca to go through that which is why you made    the right decision. Thank you for not bringing a baby with a high chance of illness to suffer.

My heart goes out to you since I also lost a very small kitten I tried to rear.

If you wanted a kitten, I'm sure there are many wonderful babies in shelters out there that would love to adopt you as their human or maybe think about adopting an older cat whose chances of being adopted are slimmer as they get older.

Thank you for caring so much for Bianca and her well-being!
