My 3 year old cat started limping like her back was hurt. I took her to vet. They treated with steroids. She was still off. Went and got a 2nd opinion. New vet ran X-rays and gave her a pain shot. Several days later, my cat is much better.

Then I noticed a lump. Back to the vet and antibiotics/steroids are prescribed. The lump is virtually gone but she has a nickel sized, think scab. No redness around the error and my cat is unbothered when touching the area or checking it.

Someone told me cat scabs can take awhile to heal. I don't want to take her again to the vet for something that time will heal.

Has anyone else experienced something similar. I believe the lump is a reaction to the pain med shot.

I would leave the scab alone too. Just watch it. Usually a scab with no swelling around the edges would mean it is on the mend. You are right - could have been from the injection site becoming inflamed, irritated thus causing a scab upon healing. The scab will fall off when the skin underneath is fully healed - just like human scabs! :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for your kitty!
