Hi, I'm Jessi and My cat is Captain Morgan. He is Siamese and very much the ruler of the house, (or at least my Dad;). He got out of our house one night and was gone for an entire month. We looked for him everywhere, put up flyers, called everyone we know and checked with animal control daily. We even went walking for hours almost every day, calling his name and asking everyone we saw if they had seen him. Luckily, we found him! He was walking up at the top of our street of the complex, 3 breezeways from our apt. We got him home and were so happy.

He had lost over half of his body weight, (he was way overweight to begin with) and had burs everywhere. We cleaned him up, and for a few days everything was fine, but then he stopped eating, wouldn't play and was very lethargic. We got him to the vet and she said he had Fatty Liver disease, which happens when sudden, significant weight loss occurs, among other things. We needed to get his weight up, but he wouldn't eat on his own and just kept losing weight. We honestly though we were going to lose him, after just getting him back.

Finally, we had to take him back and get special wet food to syringe feed him. He still wasn't getting better, then we learned his red blood cells were being attacked and had to give him steroids, on top of the nausea meds we were giving him. He started gaining weight, because steroids are an appetite stimulant, and is starting to get better. his red blood cells are increasing faster than the Vet even expected, and although he isn't out of the woods yet,  he is SOOO much better. He is eating on his own and isn't losing anymore weight, and has gained half a pound in 1 and a half weeks.

But he isn't using the litterbox. He just pees on the floor and hasn't pooped in a while. We aren't sure what to do, because otherwise he is just fine. He is eating on his own, snuggling and even annoying the crap out of my Dad, like he used to do before he got out. If anyone has any ideas on some home remedies to try, it would be so appreciated.

Thanx for reading my ridiculously long post ;) Jessi ( Captain Morgan's Sister)

Yup, he needs a vet visit.  Hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) as you know can be fatal, and while you've turned a corner with that he isn't out of the woods.  Peeing outside the box could be a medical issue, or behavioral, and i wouldn't recommend home remedies for a cat who was so deathly sick so recently.  Please contact your vet.

Also, how long since he pooped?

When did the peeing outside the box start?
