Hi everyone! I am new to this page becasue we found 2 abandoned kittens (now 2 weeks) with three dead siblings. They are remarkably healthy and eating out of a bottle extremely well. They have had normal urination and poop well too. Their bottoms have gotten red from a lot of stimulation to get them to use the bathroom and one of the kittens are started to bleed when I try to stimulate his bottom. He seems very happy and energetic. I have been putting an ointment that my friend who fosters kittens and it has helped with the redness but he continues to bleed. Any suggestions?? They are both very sweet and strong and just opened their eyes!!! Sincerley, New Mommy

Ok, a very nice and mild stimulating is the following, where our comerade Catwoman707 found an important reinforcement:

It is using running warm water.

You let the water run, about 40C or  103-104F, ie slightly higher than the normal cat temp, so it feels as nicely lukewarm for them, and somewhat warm to you.

You held the kitten back down in your left hand. The head to you, the bottom out.   In under the water, let it run some - it is like a comfy massage for them!  And sometimes its even enough, they relax and soften up in their muscles, and lets it go.   Catwomans extra trick was to tap the private parts with forefinger of the right hand, so it feels like a mom licking...

Works usually nice and well!

Of course, make sure there is no draught, its warm and nice.  Dry off the kitten, and let it be on a heat pad, as you dont want to risk it chilled out.

Also, its possible he is slightly deydrated - and the poo a little too hard.  What is the consistence of the poo?    Its typically like tooth-paste.

What are you feeding the kittens? KMR by PetAg is best. Dilute with a small amount of water to help with constipation. Desitin diaper ointment works as well. Glad you were able to save these two. It is sad that people just put whole litters out like garbage.

Its this?  Nurturall-C,   http://www.entirelypets.com/nurtkitten8oz.html

Unknown to me, but I suppose it should be OK, esp as your vet recommended it.

If you by any chance can get raw goat milk, its always a hot alternative.   But if you cant, stick to this kmr.

Liquid poo isnt the most fashionable, but better than constipation, especielly as he has problems with emptying...
