Okay, as the title says, My cat Monster has been acting odd. She had a litter of 6 maybe last Thursday. A few days ago, one passed away, she didn't seem to really care or anything, even after I calmly picked it up. Now, just today, I came back from my shower, checked on the kittens as per usual, she doesn't seem to mind. One is missing, I find it in my parent's closet, I bring it back, confused at first, I look around the web for answers. The reasons didn't make much sense.. After awhile she takes a different one to other closet. Eventually she moves the entire litter. She then comes back to my room, meowing like how my other cat, Charlotte, does when she's frantically looking for something. She goes into the closet, continuously mewing. I ask her what's wrong, of course she doesn't respond. I then tell a friend, they think it is because maybe JUST maybe, Monster is looking for the 6th. Like she didn't really realize it's been gone til now. She's been coming back consistently since then. Is it possible for her to now notice that one is gone? At first I thought she just forgot where she placed the litter, but she's gone back to it regularly... I'm not really sure what to do or think about this. Monster's usually really calm, cool, and quiet. She's never made much of any sounds since now...

She hasn't came back to my closet yet, so maybe it was just a one time thing. However, the other day she moved one from the litter for some peculiar reason. I moved it back, and she didn't act hostile. I read that possible reasons could be either the kitten eats too much, or is a liability to the litter. All of my kittens seem healthy though.

She may have been trying to show you where she moved her kittens, or may simply have been ensuring that she collected all of them. It is a cat's instinct to move her litter early on to guarantee their safety, even when there is no danger. It is good to hear that all is well now! :)
