This morning our oldest cat stepped on the hot element :(

Does anyone know what we can do short of a vet visit?

She is still running around, but then favours it a little by lifting her leg.  I can see a small blister on the pad of her foot.  Does anyone know anything we can do to help her? Or is it just time that will heal?

She's been purring a lot and mobile, so I don't think she's in constant pain, but I would like to get her something to soothe it just in case.

Lesson learned! we'll be covering our stove top elements until they fully cool.

I suggest a vet visit. A burn on the bottom of the foot can certainly get infected, not to mention being uncomfortable. Purring isn't always a sign of content, cats also use it to self soothe.

Best to have a vet check it now, rather than wait and see.

Been there and done that with my Aby
I have a flat glass top stove so to a cat it looks like part of the counter. I also recommend a trip to the vet. I immediately took my cat to the vet ER (after running cold water on his paw for several minutes). It was a very superficial first degree burn, fortunately, and the ER vet prescribed an ointment (can't remember the name of it). I made an appointment with the regular vet for a few days later as a follow up. Regular vet had seen the ER notes by the time of the appointment (it's the same vet hospital) and was laughing at my troublemaker. The burn was healing well, though still painful as evident when my Aby decided to jump off the exam table
I think it took a full week for the paw to completely heal.
