I've been doing some stuff for Dear Richard for the local at his work. I'm his secretary, I guess. So every once in a while, he "pays" me, usually in the form of a cookbook that I've been wanting.

I really like Meredith Lawrence, the Blue Jean Chef, on QVC. Her food always looks so good and her recipes look wonderful. I enjoy watching her cook on QVC on In the Kitchen with David shows. Last night, I bought Comfortable Under Pressure  (for pressure cooking) and Comfortable in the Kitchen, both hers. I think I'm really going to like them; they got a ton of good reviews on Amazon. She has a recipe for Rigatoni with Italian Sausage, Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Artichokes; it looked positively decadent, and, from what I can see, her recipes are not full of packaged and convenience foods.

Can't wait to get them!
You know, I keep saying that I'm going to stop buying cookbooks. And then I find another one.

Have you looked for Ina Garten's cookbooks?  She's The Barefoot Contessa.  I don't have her cookbook, but I've watched her show and frequent her website.  I love her recipes.  More than 10 years ago I came across a clamatto juice recipe by her, and I tried it. I've never bought clamatto juice again!  And I really love her lemon and thyme roast chicken.

I love watching Ina and have three of her cookbooks. There's something soothing to me about watching her shows. She has such a nice voice and she just does her thing on her shows. I enjoy her.

I've made so many of her recipes. Her asparagus with leeks recipe is so good. Love her pan-fried onion dip, although I don't use as much butter and oil as she does. She has a really good sauteed green bean side dish. And her garlic roasted potatoes are simply delicious. She has a good lemon cake recipe, too; I make miniature cakes for the holidays from that recipe. I really like her.

I love Ina Garten and watching her tv show
However I recently took her book Make Ahead Meals from the library and while it's a good book to browse through, none of the recipies are something I would ever make
They all seem fussy and I don't have the patience to wait for something to cook for nearly 2 hours, especially on a weeknight.

Ina has a "tour" coming up! Debating about going to see her speak.  I really enjoy her also.

I haven't bought an actual cookbook in a long time.  I tend to look up recipes online and read them on my cell phone, propped up in the kitchen if  I need to follow one to the letter.  The last book I bought was a newer version of an old classic: The Joy of Cooking.  Goodness, it was a big book to begin with but it's now ginormous!  One of my sisters is the keeper of my mom's 1950's version.  Wish I had it but this will do.

I would go to see her in a heartbeat; too bad we don't live closer....we could go see her together! I like to read The Joy of Cooking, but I don't know that I've ever really made a recipe from it.

I could use someone to go with! Not exactly something my BF would go see lol.

Joy of Cooking has always been a "go to" for me.  For the most part, I don't need to look at recipes.  I tend to read cookbooks for enjoyment only and, inspiration.  But the classic ones are great as reference.  Like if I can't remember exactly how many cups of heavy cream as opposed to milk you need to make a quiche.  I make fantastic ones, that books has the absolutely spot on amounts listed for everything.  Plus, it reminds me of my mom and dad for that matter.  My dad used to clip recipes from the New York Times and tuck them into my moms copy.  This, being why I wish I had hers.  But, it's well used and loved by my sister, so it's all good :D
