We received two 2-week old kittens roughly 7.5mo ago. Female and male. They were opposites in every way from day one. He was heavier, bigger, sassier, bossier, etc. We've fostered a many a-cat in our time. Going all the way back to my family's ranch when I was a kid. We found a home for the girl at 4mos and decided to keep the male. He really started to grow at amazing leaps around this time also. We increased his calorie intake slightly after consulting with his vet. And he was neutered also. But he is the largest kitten I've ever seen. He weighed in at 14lbs today. He is 33in from nose to tip of tale. He is lean and filling out like a line backer. And just turned 8mos this week.
He is not any particular breed, a black domestic. I figured he has some genetics of some large breed in his DNA.
I'm hoping I can find someone to has come across this large-ness and can ease my mind I am not raising a panther.
How much more do you think he could grow??

Thank you in advance!

What a big boy!  Pics?  Cats reach adult weight by about 1 year of age.

Hee hee hee, I was just thinking "maybe he's a panther" as I was reading, and then I read your third to the last line

I've got a big black mail, but he was a pudgy boy as a "toddler", not lean and long, so much.  He topped out at a little over 15 lbs, but he's best at 13.  He does have quite long legs, but I still wouldn't call him lean.

Not sure what to tell you. There are definitely some larger breeds out there,  What did your Vet say?  Did he guess part panther or Jaquar???

this pic was from a month ago. He looks a lot more chubby in this shot but it's his long hairs and they way I'm holding him.

My boy Scotty was 14 pounds when he was neutered at 7 months. He weighs 16 pounds now but he's a little chubby. Some cats just grow earlier, but also stop growing earlier. So he might stop growing now. If not, wow, you're gonna have a big boy! I have heard of cats who weigh 20 pounds at a healthy weight, so it'spossible he will get bigger.

What a beautiful cat!  He looks to have solid, muscular legs and big paws to go with his weight - I don't see it all hanging about in his belly so I too am interested to hear what your vet makes of him.   His coat looks fabulous too.   It would be great so see some more photos to get a nice 'rounded' picture of his build (rounded as in lots of different views rather than suggesting he is more round that he should be.
I reserve those comments for my cat who, when I hold him up as you are doing most definitely sags around the middle).   I'm afraid Panther does come to mind but he doesn't look fierce enough.
