sore with pus, not sure of cause

One of my cats has a sore on his back probably 2 inches from his tail. There is a pretty big scab. My boyfriend asked my to feel it and when i put some pressure on it, lots of pus came out. I got as much of it out as i could. It started to irritate him though each time pus came out. And there seemed to be a swollen or spongy maybe piece of tissue (not sure) that hurt him when i put pressure on it. It's almost right where the scab is. Does any one have any thoughts on what this could be? I poured some hydrogen peroxide on it.

Does he go outside?  It sounds like an abscess or wound, definitely infected, and if he goes outside probably from another cat.  If it isn't on the mend then it needs vet attention, and if it was me, i'd go to the vet now.
