Is there anything I should know about how my old year old female (spayed) will act when my 6 month old cat is neutered. She loves to groom him so I'm wondering if she will try to lick his wound. Do they have to be separated?
Also, two weeks after the procedure we are leaving for a week and our neighbor will be coming to feed and play with the cats twice a day. Is this too soon after the procedure? We can schedule it earlier if you think we should. As I write this I'm thinking if there was a complication then it would cause a problem, so we can do it earlier.
Also, I did read that they can react differently (i.e. not get along) when another cat comes back from the vet and to put vanilla on their heads to help them not be disturbed by the different smells after the vet. Do you agree? Or recommend something else?
Last question. He is a Siberian cat and they don't mature until 5 years so one site said that you should wait till 7 or 8 months to neuter them since the hormones effect their growth. I wouldn't want him to effect his growth or course but I wonder if he would become hormonal before being neutered and start to spray or act differently so I was going to go ahead and do it at 6 or 6 1/2 months. Does anyone have an opinion about me waiting until 7 or 8 months?
Thank you,
Bonnie
