so on friday i adopted a nine month old cat named Misty and shes very timid and still shy but shes warmed up to me but she still hides under the bed and after she comes out of it she has a sneezing fit for a little while then she stops. she also sprays spit/mucus when she does it. does she have allergies? im sorry if this is dumb im just worried. this has only happened twice so far though

If you got her from a shelter or a rescue, its very likely, almost certainly, that she has an upper respiratory infection, much like a cold in humans. She will need to see a vet and see if she has a fever or not and possibly they can send her home with some antibiotics. Are her eyes running/ dripping also? This might be nasty, but when she sneezes is it clear or yellow or green or what? Is she eating well?

I experienced my shelter cat getting a cold a 2 or so weeks ago. He sneezed every 15 mins for 2 days and had a runny and stuffy nose. I went to the vet after 5 days and he prescribed some L-lysine and ... Another liquid medication I forgot the name of haha! But anyway, I agree with N nansiludie . Your kitty might have a upper respiratory infection and the vet will prescribe antibiotics.

(My kitty didn't get his sneeze from the shelter but he most likely got it from 2 outdoor cats that my friend has. He came over for the first time and after he left, my cat started sneezing lol! So... Humans can transfer cat colds. It's scary!)
