I read a while back that youre not supposed to let kittens near clay litter. I don't have the money for the fancy kindthat's all natural anymore so I bought some cheap EverPet clay litter. I didn't think they would eat it but as soon as I laid it down, they started munching on it like it was their food and wouldnt stop even if I pulled them away.

I researched more on the subject and it says that clay kills them. Is this true?? I don't have the money for a vet so I'm sort of freaking out and don't know what to do.

Okay, do you have a general idea of how much they ate? More importantly, was it clumping? If not, try to not be too concerned. As for the litter, might try using shredded or whole sheets of newspaper, its messy but not much danger of them eating it.

The bag doesn't say if it's clumping or non clumping But it's chunks of grey clay. They got a couple mouth fulls and after the third time of moving them away from the litter box, I took and dumped the litter in the trash. I tore up some of my books and put the paper in the litter box...It'll stink to high heaven whenever they use the bathroom but at least they won't get hurt.

Okay, if you have any of the litter left, pour a  little water on it, if it doesn't clump and is just a wet pile of litter, its  plain. If it looks like little rocks its plain, clumping litter is ground very fine, like sand. Just keep a good watch on them and see how they do, as long as they are playing and eating and pottying alright, they should be okay.
