My cat had had diarrhea since we'd. He always has loose poops. He is an ibd car. Just now he had diarrhea again but he had four large hairballs in it. Could that be the cause of it?

It's certainly possible that the hairballs were,at least, a contributory factor to the diarrhoea. My understanding is that hairballs can cause constipation. Diarrhoea can be symptomatic of severe constipation or even a blockage. It works like this (apologies in advance for the grossness factor): cat gets constipated. Constipation gets worse, but food/waste is still backing up in its system. Cat gets enough of a backlog and thin, even watery diarrhoea pushes it's way around the blockage. Eventually blockage is passed (or is removed). Diarrhoea follows as the feces behind the blockage is able to leave the system. Bowel movements (hopefully) return to normal, though things may be inflamed or irritated for a short while afterwards.
