Hello everyone!
So I recently took my kitten to the veterinarian today, and my kitten was tested for FIP and lukemia, and was determined to have neither (which is very good). However, the veterinarian then suggested the symptoms the kitten is experiencing could be indicative of an infection in the ear or brain or a neurological disorder. I would like further information as to what symptoms we can look out for in each scenario (infection versus neurological disorder).
Here are the cat's symptoms:
-Circling
-Head tilt (generally to the right)
-Stumbles
-Falling (generally on it's right)
-Eyes oscillating up and down (towards right)
-Erratic head movement (her head bobs)
-Acts drunk (that's the best way I can describe it, it just looks like she's not with it)
-Sometimes vocal
-All the above symptoms seem to worsen, especially when stressed
Otherwise, the cat doesn't display any mental issues. She eats, drinks (although the bobbing does make this a little more difficult), plays, and uses the litterbox (both urination and defecation just fine). She seems to really enjoy being petted, but I think sometimes she just gets so exhausted from all the above mentioned symptoms that she tires easily.
The kitten is five weeks old, she was also born from a feral mother. Her litter mates don't appear to be experiencing any of the same problems.
I'd just like some feedback on whether these symptoms lean more towards an infection or neurological disorder. She has been put on antibiotics by the veterinarian who said it could be hard if it is indeed an infection, to determine what type of infection. She's taking (and hopefully I'm getting this right) .02 mg (or 2 mg, something like that, I know it was milligrams) of antibiotics per day that my husband has been giving the kitten.
Also, should I be preparing for the possibility of death? I am really scared. She looks absolutely miserable to me. I feel like I'm not honoring having her by not being able to help her anymore than this.
