So far out in left field I got lost
I have noticed that since The Sammycat has lost some weight he is much more active. This is good but I have a concern now. He is much bigger than my dog Ceasar and he has been jumping on him(not a lot) for no reasaon that I can see other than Ceasar is in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Today he actually attacked Ceasar in a very aggressive manor and their bodies rolled on the floor with The Sammycat kicking with his back feet. I broke it up by making a loud noise and telling The Sammycat to stop it. He did but I am concerned that he will do this when we aren't home and hurt Ceasar badly.

Is there anything I can do besides keeping them seperated? This was Ceasar's home first before The Sammycat and Oscar came into the picture. It wouldn't be fair to Ceasar to be confined to a single room while we are at work. Any suggestions?

Could it be possible that Ceaser smells different to Sammy? Has Ceaser been to the vet recently? Rolled in something in the garden? Is Ceaser well? I know he's a dog but maybe Sammy can detect a change in him.

Perhaps you could try re-introducing the pair to each other. And place Sammy and Ceaser on leads while they interact with you and another person supervising.

Bach's Flower Rescue Remedy may help calm things down. I place a drop or two in the water.

I hadn't thought of that but Ceasar had just come back in from a potty break out in the back yard where there is no telling what he got into and also he played with Nemo my Alaskan Malamute mixed breed. This maybe why The Sammycat jumped on him so severly

Where can this be purchased? I think it would help with Emmett and his love for attacking Angel (the puppy)

Hmmm...

Do you have cats visiting your backyard? Ceaser could pick up one of their scents that Sammy sees as a threat. I know you've got Nemo out there, but you know how sneaky cats can be.

Best thing to do to find the problem especially if you don't have a UV light is to pop Sammy on a leash and take him out to the backyard. And have a lot of patience and perhaps he could lead you to an area where he marks his territory in some way. I just hope this doesn't lead to spraying.

Or it could be that he can still smell traces of urine or feacal matter on Ceaser after he returns from the outside.

I do know there is a feral tom that roams the neighborhood and well he is a really tough looking tom. It is possiable that he got back there when Nemo was asleep and marked the yard
I do know that if Nemo was up and roaming his backyard the tom kitty would be either up a tree or worse in Nemo's mouth. Nemo has a habit of well let's just say disposing of any strange animals that get into the back yard
but that is his breeding of the Malamute, they are known for that.

I do trust Nemo around Ceasar though, so it is possiable that the tom got in the yard and marked it and of course Ceasar found that spot and now The Sammycat has issues with him about it

Bach's Flower Rescue Remedy can be bought from pharmacies, (drugstores), health food stores, naturopathy and homeopathy specialty stores in Australia. I'd assume it would be the same elsewhere.

And there are stores online that sell it too.

There is an alternative to Bach's Flower Rescue Remedy which sounds more appealing as it is alcohol free. Bach's Flower Rescue Remedy has alcohol in it. It's SpiritEssence and it's a USA based company. They ship all over USA and do international shipping as well.

They have a lot of remedies for cats specifically and they derive their method from Dr Bach. There's information provided in their FAQ section. I haven't tried SpiritEssence but I would prefer to use an alcohol free version for my cats. I found this comapny via Meowhoo pages.

SpiritEssence link

And another one offered by Vir-Chew-All that is also alcohol free. Another site found from Meowhoo.

Vir-Chew-All

Hope this helps.

The next time Ceaser goes out into the yard, watch where he goes and what he does. You may need to do this more than once. But eventually, he will show you where this area is. This I think will be easier than letting Sammy out and showing you. And possibly quicker too.

Thanks a_loveless_gem, I'll let you know how it works on Emmett. I really hope this helps. We are at our wits end with the kitten always attacking the dog.

Thanks I will keep an eye on Ceasar to see what he does in the backyard and will also try the Bach's Flower Rescue Remedy to see if that will help with The Sammycat.
