Hey everyone...I know it seems as though I never post here unless I have a problem but this place really seems to be good with advice.

Anyway, my boy just had Urethrostomy surgery after two blockages within two months. He's doing fine and came through it okay. But of course the cone problem. He was fine all of yesterday until the night. As soon as we went to bed he started pulling it off. He seems to have tired himself out now but I'm afraid to tie it tighter than I have already done. I don't want to hurt him or choke him. Is there any way to keep him from pulling it off other than 24/7 super vision? I've got a ton of free time to watch him most of the time but there are things I have to do, so I want to be able to leave the room for at least a few hours and be assured he will be okay.

The reason I specified the surgery type was because I know from experience ND now have confirmed with others that cones are not always necessary for spaying/neutering, but this was a major surgery. He's been effectively rendered gender less at this point. That alone makes me feel bad enough, but now to see him so bored and annoyed breaks my heart. Is there a way to give him entertainment without much movement? They told me to keep him as quiet as possible for at least two weeks. So any advice on substitute stimulus would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thank you so much.

Kate and Loki.

Oh, also I'm concerned about his stitching. I don't have a dog crate and I'm afraid that with the cone on if I put him in his carrier he will make more fus and hurt himself or rip them out. But I also see it bleeding a little and I'm not sure if I should be worried since the scab he pulled off when he got out of the cone last night was a large one they said should be left in place for two days. It's not bleeding heavily but I'm still worried on when to call.
