White tummy = white paw?

I like kitties that wear socks (white paws) I was wondering if a cat that has white paws has a white tummy? And vice versa? Just an observation, I was wondering if it was consistent.

I never really thought about it but, Opie and Buddy have white tummies and all eight of their paws are white, too.

I don't know. But to add to your informal survey, both Ginza and Pixie have white tummies and all white paws too.

Socks has a white belly and all white feet.

Sadie does not have a white belly and no white feet.

The "White Spotting Gene" that controls the white on cats that are not all white (which is caused by a different gene, the "Dominant White Gene"), and the gene that makes siamese kitties white on their bodies (the "Pointed Gene") essentially starts at the feet and works up. Geneticists are not very sure exactly how the gene works. An example of a cat with white feet and no white belly would be the Birman (which is also pointed). Here on my kitty (Yay! excuse for a gratuitous belly shot) you can see his white feet, but his belly is not completely white:

when I said belly, I mean there is signs of white on his underside. My messed up anatomy of a cat is a big tummy that stretches to the neck, no chest Sorry.

Peaches has white paws but does not have a white belly. The only white she has is on her four paws and a little around the bottom of her mouth and a small patch under her chin.

I will have to put that theory to test tomorrow. I'll let you know the results!

My Bengal cat Simba has a whitish spotted belly, and his feet aren't even remotely white.
