My cat climbs in bookcases and my finace's viedo game cabinet

I cant spray my cat in either on these ares since one is electronics and the other is books but we don't want him being in either of those places (i don't want cat hair collected on my books and we all know how GREAT cat hair is when you shove in into a video game console)/ 

But i don't know how to get him to stop. He LOVES to go into both of them on a regular basis and i don't know what to do.

As a first step, please stop using a spray bottle on your cat.  Cats generally don't understand or react well to discipline, and in fact things like a spray bottle can end up making a problem worse.  Furthermore, even when effective at stopping a behavior, spray bottles are generally HIGHLY unpleasant for cats and can actually terrorize them and make them scared of you.  An article with more information, if you are interested, can be found here: http://www.thecatsite.com/a/cats-and-discipline-dont-mix
