My cat gave birth 2 weeks ago and there is a lone survivor, one kitten died at a week old (4-20) and the other died at two weeks (4-27) (the third kitten will be three weeks on sunday) but this kitten seems to be doing a lot better than the other ones were doing, he's eating, being taken care of properly, seems pretty strong, he lifts his head up, walks around and is starting to get teeth. But right between the two front legs there is a small "dent" I guess you can say and i'm pretty sure it's PE we don't have the money for surgery, is he likely to survive?

Hi CatQuestionss and welcome to TCS!

This sounds quite a bit like my boy... he was the only survivor of a litter of six, and had PE.

The early days are so important, but it's a really good sign that he's doing so well!

We have an advisor who did an amazing job helping someone's kitten with this disorder.. have a look at this thread.

I've read that, I try to move him on his side when he's sleeping but he just wakes up and comes crawling towards me, sometimes he lays on his side after a while and like I said we don't have the money at the moment to take him to the vet. Any other advice?

I am so sorry to hear he is the last of his litter. On the thread Mani posted, they have an idea of how to fix him a corset or a jacket to keep him from scooting on his chest. The best thing I can recommend is to read that thread and to keep him as comfy and happy as you can.

Did you read all the thread?  @catwoman707 had a system that worked wonders.  I honestly couldn't give you any better advice.

Hi there, and I apologize for not getting to this sooner.

How is he doing? Is his breathing still clear or does it seem like he struggles with it at all?

If you were to take him in the palm of your left hand on his back, and with your right hand, your thumb on one side of his rib cage and fingers together on the other side of his ribs, if you ever so gently squeeze together, do you see his chest cave inward or pop out?

Or neither?

It doesn't really do anything.

Rib cage is very soft and moveable, like soft rubber almost.

You don't see anything happen when squeezed?

I think he/she was premature if that has anything to do with it (he/she doesn't meow much when he/she opens his/her mouth, only sometimes, he/she also doesn't react to loud noises) but like I said, he/she is a very playful cat and he/she enjoys to walk around and purr, too.

Nevermind he/she was just meowing and i clapped my hands and he/she jumped a little.
